Morning lads

bit of a amature with the Mercedes a class, went out in my car the other day lost drive made a stupid noise and come to a standstill, it still goes into park and neutral, will go into drive but won't move, been told the clutch setup is a common problem on them but also been told it might be the box, do I have to remove the engine to get the box out? And best place to source parts,
