Took it in today for the battery replacement and my "unofficial" oil change and took a few pics of the flex disc. That plate on the right does look like some kind of heat shield but not sure if it's different? Either way, like I said, no flex disc recalls, which I already knew as nobody has called or sent me anything, but I asked today and the answer is no. They too said it might have been market specific, or the VIN range that we got here is outside the recalled range. But honestly? Given the very low volume of M139 cars in the country, the odds were rather in my favor.

Just dropped mine off for the recall. Incidently this is my third attempt due to a shortage of parts.

I asked them to explain what the recall was for (to see what they would tell me) and for paperwork to be ready on collection detailing the work carried out. They refused to tell me anything other than "we can give you the recall code, that's it"

This is the same dealership I had paperwork challenges with around the rear clutch pack oil change so I'll just do what I did last time. I guess it will be another friendly chat with the service manager again.

I love how they really go out of their way to make you feel like a valued customer of the brand

Tell me about it!

It's the second time at this dealership. I politely and calmly explained that it's my (relatively expensive) personal property and I'd like to know what they're doing to it and why but they just don't see it from my perspective.

At least it's finally being carried out.

Do they duck behind their desks when they see you 😬

No but I think they draw straws to see who has to deal with me when they seem me arrive.

I'm a perfectly polite and nice chap - I just don't like being fobbed off or poor service and I'll highlight these things to them.

It reminds me of a neighbour we had at our last house. He always questioned, for want of a better word, everything that happened. Our street was due to have cable put down one year. But he kept putting up obstacles. So the company pulled the job and never did our street 🤷‍♂️

My dealership let me read through the recall document on how and what to change. That’s where I got the photo from.
I wondered how you had photos and narrative.

I think it's a bit of a stretch from someone expecting professional service from a Mercedes dealership when they're working on your personal property to an interfering/nosey/belligerent neighbour.

The two are very different.

Yes and no. I’ll be too off topic to explain. But it’s good that you are keeping at it with your dealership. I have my own thing to sort out with my MB dealership where my previous and past service plans have been charged for the same service. Five weeks on since I discovered it and my next service coming up next week it’s not sorted out.

And your EV. Any further nuggets.

I'm just curious. Those of you that are impacted by the recall - did you get anything from Mercedes in the post (as their website states you will).

I've had zero contact from Mercedes at all and only got it booked in to be worked on through finding out about it on here and manually checking for myself.

I didn't receive anything by post for my previous MB recall. They are slow and generally not at all as they would like the brand to be perceived. I obviously am so far not a part of this recall.

So I've been using the app to track my car. It sat in the car park from 8.30 am to 1.40 pm and was then in the workshop for a little over a hour. It's now back outside again.

That seems quite quick for what I was told was a "three to four hour job"

Seemingly the service desk team are all on lunch so I can't ask for a progress update but I'll try again after 3pm.

I also had the impression that to replace the flex disc would take that sort of time. I wonder if they are just examining the flex disc and and only replacing if necessary, or not at all, with the actual work being to put in the extra shielding plate.

I'm back. I dealt with a different Service Tech and it was the polar opposite of my experience this morning - he was great!

He had a stack of paperwork ready for me, mostly superfluous to the recall but the following may be of interest -
