So I'm going to forget lowering or spacers on mine. Seems like plenty of risk for no or unquantified benefit. I have done it with a base Porsche 991 where they keep the lower and wider track for the uber expensive GT cars. But this doesn't apply with the A45, there's no reason for Merc to hold it back.

it’s a stage 1 DMS tune, I’ve since that day changed the stock air filter, running an Armaspeed intake at the moment but I’m testing out the Eventuri A45s intake next Tuesday when I’m down there for spacers, should now be running 500bhp & 670NM ish
Hi there,
I'm hoping the Eventuri intake would give you some good results, I'm personally running the Armaspeed intake and it didn't make any difference at all on the dyno which was kinda disappointing.

Did DMS tune your CPC as well to go along with the stage 1 tune?

I tell you guys. I am getting concerned about my A45s. To put your foot down and hear that exhaust note and the car just blows away anything in its path. I just need to detox from driving it before a speed camera or car with a blue flashing light does it for me. Even in the torrential downpours we've been enjoying throughout May the car is just like a limpet on the road. Nothing, even sidewinds, blows it off course. For this reason I'm also kind of glad the lockdown has made it so difficult to get a Brabus tune.

Haha, I know, right? Over here there are plenty of spots that haven't got a speed camera, although you need to be careful as sometimes they set up road blocks behind bushes and they use hand held speed guns. You can't see them until somebody comes out like a [email protected] pervert at 2 am and pulls you over. That's why I like to check first. It really is a pretty quick car, especially above 100mph. Dunno if you've ever had the chance to go that fast but you'll notice it pulls hard after that (that's the size of the turbo).

What you said about sidewinds is so true. It was one of the first things I noticed while driving to see my folks, which is a 30min trip (10min highway and 20min B roads) and takes you through a combination of rural and coastal landscape. Although it gets windy relatively often, the car cuts through the wind like it's nothing, at 85mph.

It takes a few miles to get used to the car but once you are the side winds and it's torque steer when you put your foot down just disappear. The biggest sanity check factor in driving the thing is having my wife in the passenger seat.

Let me guess, she's your living speed limiter and she also reads you every last speed limit on the way, while knowing every second how fast you're going.

Yes MB and there new screens is a real issue that the passenger can see everything. There should be some kind of screen guard feature 😀

Screen guard that would automatically extend when you're above the speed limit. It'd take coding to communicate with the sign reading camera. 🤪

Hi Guys,

I have been on this forum for a while now and read some great posts by alot knowledgeable people which in turn has helped me gain slightly better knowledge of the car I always wanted to possess. My car is a 21 plate and I have just had a cat back Capristo exhaust fitted and DMS tune. I did book it on for a full decat and OPF removal but the down pipe that was shipped over from Italy was fitted and later removed because my car had 6 sensors on the downpipe and the new exhaust only 4. I’m not a techie (still trying to learn) so hope that made sense. I had the work completed in Hertfordshire (R-Tec auto) who were good but I think the specialists are on this forum and now these cars better than anyone.

What would you guys suggest I do next? I’ve read on hear about an armaspeed air intake that sound & look nice (thanks you tube) with the carbon fibre casing.

I would love to hear your thoughts on how I get more power OR do I leave it as it is?

Thanks In advance and I trust you are keeping safe 💙

Currently exploring options to make the exhaust louder. On the lookout for any exhausts being released or custom mods people are thinking of.

iPE have released an exhaust which will be ready in 4 weeks. They have quoted £2950 for the exhaust and £500 for shipping and fitting.

I am thinking of doing just a back box delete for now but unsure if this would affect the warranty in any way. I imagine it will only affect the warranty on the exhaust but not on the engine.

Does anyone have any pictures of the underneath of the car? How many resonators the car has or what the piping looks like?
evening I have just had a Capristo cat back exhaust fitted and it sounds amazing! I watched various videos on you tube and my personal preference was Capristo. Then exhaust and remap has changed the car from an animal to BEAST.

I've moved the posts from Exhaust Mods/Upgrades and the standalone new thread to here in the tuning thread so people can input.

oh I see, I’m not lowering it just 12mm spacers all round
I have been running 12mm spacers all round on the car for well over a year. No issues at all. I remember the scrub radius being -18 so 12mm spacers will still leave the car with a negative scrub radius

Nice. I’ve had a custom catback exhaust with a 100 mg motorsports sports cat and the car sounds insane. Ill trytake some videos because it’s definitely gotten louder since the install. Probs the sport scat getting broken in.

Evotech tune in Sydney. I asked for a longevity orientated tune. Stage 1 all software. Really happy with the results below:

Here I thought I'd never say this, but I might end up getting Brabus after all, despite the fact it looks like it's the exact opposite of vfm and let me explain why. First of all, yes in terms of actual value, it's not good vfm because you're getting 450ps and 550nm for roughly 2.5, maybe even 3k I dunno how much we could end up with when it hits retail. While other tunes offer over 480ps and 650nm for half that price or even less. But you're also getting a warranty which means you got peace of mind for quite a while and because it's a mild upgrade, you can pretty much drive the car exactly as you used to, do launches and low gear rolls at no risk. And that's even more important for those that plan to keep their car for several more years, let's not take that lightly. I dunno, I'm starting to think Brabus might be right in saying that 450ps and 550nm is the most you can get without affecting longevity, particularly when we're talking about keeping the car for a decade.

Aside from remapping the stock ECU, I also like the fact that they also provide a CPC, not everyone does that. You're also getting an upgraded filter for additional air supply and a blow-off adapter, which however I'm not sure I'm gonna keep if it doesn't sound nice. And we also have a dealer so I'm not gonna have to have it remotely tuned (unfortunately we don't have a dealer to get any of these great tunes you guys seem to be happy with, so it'd have to be done remotely, which I'm not comfortable with). Now if only their kit made anywhere around 470ps, I'd take it without a second thought. There are only two things that keep me from pulling the trigger, 30-40ps less power than some of the custom tunes and the fact that they're not gonna make stage 2, which means two things, one I'll have to live with my 450ps and 550nm and two, I won't be able to install a gpf-delete downpipe and enjoy that wonderful sound of exhaust systems such as Capristo and Armytrix. Cat(gpf)back is the only thing I can do and stay out of errors, but it sounds nothing like that. Still better than stock, but just not what I want.

So, is peace of mind worth having 30-40ps less, missing on the sound of turboback and gpf-delete exhaust and paying extra? Starting to think yes. Gonna wait and see what the retail will be when it finally hits the dealer, which btw is another thing you gotta appreciate, their decision to keep their product in house for the first 10 cars they tune, instead of starting to sell worldwide, if it ain't convincing enough of their seriously professional work, I dunno what is. That's not to say other tunes aren't solid, but who would say no to making more money faster? You gotta be either an idiot, or highly professional.

You'll definitely be missing more than just 30-40 ps less with a custom tune and even more on the torque, but if warranty and longevity is your main concern, I definitely think the Brabus is the best option available now.

Increased wear and tear is inevitable when operating beyond manufacturer's range, and Brabus is the only one that is able to back it with the warranty intact. In my opinion that alone is very appealing.

Would love to hear how the blow off would sound like, I am sure it will sound good. We're talking about Brabus here, I am sure they won't release something that isn't good.

The biggest problem I have with Brabus is that they are being singularly useless in making the tune module available through MB dealerships. They are still showing that a factory fit, in Germany, is the only option. I will try them again but they really just don't seem keen on getting our business. Article - Overview - Tuning - BRABUS
