Whats everyone use as alloy cleaner. I used to use wonder wheels, it was very good stuff but started to corrode the bits around the chips on my beemer alloys.

For a polished finish, I use Rim Wax by Smart Wax.

You should avoid using alloy wheel cleaners unless you absolutely have to - they are very harsh. If you clean your car and wheels regularly - at least fortnightly (by hand not by car wash or asylum seeker!), there should not be a build up of break dust requiring any sort of harsh specialist cleaner.

Also, I polish my alloys when I polish the car. This method has worked on my last several cars.Polish removes any stubborn bits of road tar. The alloys still looked like new after two years driving.

I was going to start a new thread about this to warn people, the black painted Merc alloys are very soft and can scratch quite easily so be careful. I'm using a high quality shampoo ( meguiars) and then meguiars polish I dont think they would like any harsh or cheap ish chemicals.

A picture is a good idea. It would probably still be difficult to prove.

Does anyone know of or can recommend a good tyre shop in the West Midlands that are alloy friendly?
