These are little cigar shaped pieces instead of the metal hooks at the top edge.
So they sit INSIDE the hatch, wedged between the metal of the body and the tailgate.
Works well - got a set for my BMW 4 series gran coupe hatch for the same reason (all glass tailgate).
The Saris is excellent BTW, plastic and folds up well.
