Hi, so I have just received this error message on my dash and was advised by Merc that I needed to contact roadside assistance coz the red airbag light is on the dash. Car is due to be picked up, but can somebody provide some light on this for me. My car is the A250 Premium Plus. I got in October last year.

It’s a known error, and a few have received similar messages, including twice for myself in the last 3 months (car is 1-year old). Although for me it was front right malfunction, is your car left hand drive? If you do a search on this forum you’ll find the threads.

For me it wasn’t the actually airbag that was the issue, but the connection of a cable underneath the drivers seat. The garage loosened the slack on the cable. Others on this forum have reported the dealer just clears the error instead of fixing the issue.

You can either book the car in yourself at a dealer - but you may have to wait several weeks if you want a courtesy car. Alternatively press the Me button in the overhead panel of the car, and because it is classified as a breakdown emergency, Mercedes will take the car away to the nearest dealer, and deliver a courtesy car to your home address.

Cheers for the response mate. My car's RHD, it's very strange because I've had the seat out and replaced the sensor pad, so there shouldn't be any un-necessary slack on it but I've got it booked in at a Mercedes specialist tomorrow so I'll know for sure. I think he said he thinks it's the wiring loom, but that'll cost me £130 so not all bad.

Hopefully can be sorted ASAP :)

Mate just for the info, the W177 is like brand new... It all falls under warrenty, I had the same issue with the rear right side and front left.
My dealer fixed the issue by replacing the connectors. (Showed me the old ones) Told me its an warrenty issue and won't be charged.

I've got the W176 A45, it's a year out of warranty now. So £130 seems decent, better than £1000+ I was told by a mercedes dealership.

Ah, I take it all back then - I have no idea what that issue is because this is the W177 part of the forum ?

Sorry, wrong forum haha!

I think it's the same sort of issue, dropped it off to an indie specialist today and they said they'll have a look tonight/tomorrow for me then give me a call.

Will keep everyone updated.
