Totally agree with the feel in part. When giving it a bit I feel it's happier changing gears at around 4-5k. After that it's a bit course. My Audi 1.4 was a better sounding engine and I felt like it wanted to rev easier through the rev range but meh, for what it doesn't have it makes up with in fuel economy and the gearbox is is more intuitive and overall it's just a nicer car.

@FranFran:
Good point here:
"Use a paddle tap to maintain 7th before accelerating via CC on the motorway as even in eco it downshifts to increase speed just a few mph (I should report this to MB as it does seem like a 'bug'- I've seen 7th to 4th for +4mph) "

Oddly we can get it to pull from 1k, almost labouring, if very cautious on the throttle.
But I'm with you - the 'box programming needs more work for sure.
NO need to shift into 6th from top on a motorway acceleration at tiny throttle.
Hadn't thought of applying manual override to stop it - only using it on long drops when in ECO.
Then you get the clutch back out and so some regen/recharging instead of applying the foot brakes.

Good intel, thanks!
