A couple of weird issues

1) the start / stop feature doesn’t work in any mode. I get the green light on the button but the dash displays an A in a circle with a lien through it ( see below ) Not sure if this is a direct feature after the superchip remap ( I have ping’d them an email to ask )

2) Parking sensors: asked loads of times I’m struggling to get the right answer. The front sensors light up nicely on the dash and beep very clearly however the rear sensors display lovely in the rear display on the roof but I cannot get them to beep ( I have read posts that they don’t beep until you hit red ( or hit something ) is this right ?

3) No DAB for radio stations which is very strange considering my last car was older and had DAB, can this be a software update fix ? Or do I need to get someone to fix an aftermarket bolt on to get DAB working ? ( This is my suspicion )

Apart from the above and I’m sure there will be more, loving the car so far. Spent a good few hours this weekend cleaning the interior not that it really needed it. Have bought some puddle lights ( AMG logo ) and need to fit the AMG genuine car mats at some point.

Greetings,

Nice to virtually meet you all, apologises for my first post to be all about I need some help but what better place to get it ☺

I have just bought my wife a lovely 2016 A250 in Red which has only covered 12000 miles and a single owner. The car itself smells, looks and feels like a brand new car ( will get pics once I’ve cleaned it etc ) however I have a couple of questions and apologises if they sound crazy or stupid 🫣

1) On the dash above where you can change the info my car is displaying the speed as Kph instead of mph. I have checked the settings and they are set to mph and also the main dash when having the speed shown is in mph and ideas how I change the small kph to mph ?

2) Parcel Shelf rattle, OMG it’s annoying I had to take the shelf out, I’m thinking of putting rubber feet on the plastic lip the shelf sits on to stop the rattle, but wanted to know what others have done (if your rattles)

3) Looking to get the wheels painted as they have gone milky, I’m thinking gloss black, can I get the chrome badges in black too ( just to match the wheels ? )

4) I’m after a plastic boot protector to protect the carpet from getting mucky any ideas if Merc still sells these? If not where would be the best place to get 1 from

Thst eill do for now, I’m sure there will be more, if your interested I’ll grab some pics once I’ve got the new tyres on and wheels sorted

1. Kph shows all the time its just a Merc thing for the UK market and to comply with EU rules. You soon get used to ignoring it.
2. I used draught excluder in black up each side of the parcelshelf where is sits on the boot shelf/trim
3. Dont know
4. Boot mat from ebay not worth paying MB prices.

ordered a boot protector from carmats4u all good there too

Welcome to the forum.

If MB had kph markings on the main dial it wouldn’t need a separate digital reader.

Re-Map 250bhp / 400ft/lbs
The torque figure is more than my stock A45s at 376lbsft. Is the car getting the power down without wheelspin? Especially in the current damp conditions.

Most of the time it's due to a bad battery when the start/stop stops working/lights up orange at every stop. Mine stopped working and had the battery replaced, after that it has worked flawlessly.
I deactivate it at every start though, I don't like how the car starts when it is activated.

The parking sensors can be adjusted in the menu, how early they should beep and how loud. You can activate them to warn you early both front and rear, otherwise they warn differently.

DAB must be purchased through your ME account, now I don't know of any options for W176 purchases but on my W177 it must/can be purchased.

And congratulations on the car :)

Morning

Thanks for the reply, I’ll get the car to Mercedes this week to get them to check the battery, after doing some googling most posts were pointing to a battery defect seeing as the batteries have been there since new I’m not entirely surprised 😂

could you point me in the right direction to adjusting the parking sensors, I’ve looked everywhere ( that I know of ) and couldn’t find anything to do with the parking sensors to make any changes ( fingers crossed this is there 😂 )

will speak to Mercedes about the DAB option I have sceen retrofit versions but would prefer to have a main dealer to supply fit incase other issue arise due to fitting 😂

Just called my local Mercedes dealership to report and book in the car for the start / stop issue and was told they would need to run a full diagnostic on the car (£149) to see what's going on then on top of that the cost of parts etc

This is going to get expensive..

#19 ·
I don't know your menu because mine is MBUX, the possibility is also that you don't have rear sensor.
Here it is seen on MBUX. MASTER your Mercedes Parking Sensors!

Yes, they are **** clever, first you pay for them to go through it and then you pay for a new battery. They did the same with me.
There are several who have changed the battery themselves but it must be a special one.

The s/s I think starts working above 6c? I note your photo shows just 6c. I would wait for it to be warmer and then see. Somebody else can perhaps confirm the start temperature.

that would be good to know, I'm very tempted to just replace both the main battery and the aux battery seeing as they are both ( assumption coming on here :D ) 9 years old, and most other threads have stated changing the battery(s) resolved the problem.

Looks like i could get both batteries for the cost of the diagnostic cost from Mercedes :D

Just need to work out where the batteries are now ( Google Time ) plus im very much not mechanically minded so I'll have to find someone to fit them too

I'm thinking I'll just replace both the main and AUX batteries and fingers crossed that resolves the issue, if not well I've got 2 brand new batteries :D

Just need to make sure those above in my previous post are the correct size, the EK131 AUX is defo the right one just need to check the main

I replaced my original 8 year old main battery and the stop/start began working so you may not need the auxiliary battery changing. I find the stop/start annoying so have programmed it out following instructions on this site. MB are con merchants with their diagnostic charges. I dont trust the rear parking sensors and rely on the rear camera.

Get a decent code reader

#30 ·
I used a thinkdiag to code out my stop/start and I also have an autel diagnostic for reading fault codes. Neither of them were particularly expensive and work on a variety of cars. I have used them on MB a & c class, jag ipace, nissan leaf, bmw 1 series, vauxhall insignia and seat ateca.

Basically the families cars and although they wont always read the codes on some of the older cars they have always enabled the codes to be deleted.

Mercedes have done a full diagnostic on the car and it’s the aux battery has failed which they have said is why the start / stop does not to work.

Having a new battery fitted in the morning, fingers crossed nothing else is going to be an issue as I’ve got Autologics retrofitting Dab tomorrow afternoon

Got the start stop fixed yesterday / today by Mercedes picked up the car this morning to find this when I got home ( Bare I mind the car is scratch free both inside and out ) the panel isn’t even fitted properly ( look at the door trim.

Mat Automobile pedal Carbon fibers Synthetic rubber

I was livid to put it politely, back to Mercedes I go and kindly asked the service manager what have they done to my car.

He politely said look I don’t want to lose a customer so I will order a brand new trim and fit it FOC when it comes in.

Bear in mind I hoover this car on a daily basis and because of my OCD i wipe down all the trims after each use using I2 GTechniq ( Yes I know is this massive but overkill but it’s something I have to do ) so it was there yesterday morning before I took it too them..

Anyways..

I’m in shock I have no idea how and what’s gone on here except at a guess one of the mechanics either snapped my one taking it out or they wanted a nice clean scratch free panel for their own car replacing mine with theirs.. ( Slander I know 😂 )

UNBELIEVEABLE ! Rant Over for now

On the flip side Autologics fitted my DAB tuner and programmed the sensors to beep which is rather nice - there work was faultless and I have upgraded the maps to the latest version too ( haven’t tested just yet )

Tomorrow I’ll give it good outside clean to see if my friends at Mercedes have scratched or damaged any of the bodywork

God this sounds like a soap opera, at least I’m entertaining you lot 😂

This had water in it

when the boot was opened the waterfall of water appeared to come from the centre of the boot where the lock is ( unclear as I cannot get much out of the wife whether the water came from the lock it’self or elsewhere
