MBUX data plans

I believe the Mercedes Me is available all the time, although certain functions are only free for a few years. In the UK online traffic updates are only free for three years. The MBUX system needs an online connection to Mercedes me for things like the SOS, Car to Car info, Mercedes service to check info and for the Linguatronic to work, so that will continue, this will be free for the basics. I'm guessing there will be some service that will come at a cost at a later date, but I guess we will have to wait another two years before we find out that, when the first registered cars start running out of their 3 years.

You are both right, but I think that Mercedes build the data into the package.

Just checked and the following are free for a time period, after that I assume you will need to buy a subscription;

Online Map Updates - 3 years free
Linguatronic - 3 years free
Live Traffic Information - 3 years free
Predictive Navigation - 3 years free

The following are indefinite;

Software update
Eco display
Emergency call system
Accident recovery and breakdown
Smart home

All of these use the free data that comes with Mercedes Me

Online music needs a separate data plan and a subscription with the music provider.

This is all based on the UK, so other countries may differ, and of course you can always have other services if you want to pay a subscription.

Mercedes - The Ryanair of the road, although games have now become like that, buy the game then you have to have micro transactions to play them.

I couldn't believe that I would have to pay per year for the Mercedes Me features and Android Auto was extra. The basic ford has Android Auto built in for free.
