Merc announced recently that it will be adding a third shift after demand for the new Mercedes-Benz A class.
Merc will be adding a third shift to its Rastatt plant in Germany starting next week. Rastatt plant director Peter West in a statement yesterday said that ""we have expanded our full-time work force by 500 permanent staff and now well positioned to deliver the cars to our customers as soon as possible.""
A Merc spokesman said that, currently they are looking at demand and will adjust their output to keep stocks at the best possible level. The new version of the A-Class is very much vital component of CEO Dieter Zetsche's plan to make Mercedes-Benz more competitive in the battle with Audi and BMW.
