I wouldn’t bother going to a main dealer for servicing anymore, they rip you off badly. There are enough independent places out there with better prices that will do the exact same job.

Mercedes Liverpool quoted £30 a month for the service plan, yet there’s a BMW/Merc specialist round the corner that do one for £20 a month. I took my 3 series there and have been more than happy with their work so will definitely be using them when my A180 is due for a service. It’s only a 2 year service plan so I’ll be looking at taking that out next January following the A service.

Thanks, i believe my lease allows for an authorised service centre and not only an MB dealer to do it, so will look into this option before committing.

I believe that EU laws stipulate that you’re not legally required to go to a main dealership for anything at all. I think a couple of years back dealers began holding customers to ransom, basically scaremongering, in the hope that customers would pay their high prices fearful of voiding some sort of warranty clause. This is nonsense. As long as you use somewhere that uses approved parts for your manufacturer, there shouldn’t be an issue.

I never bothered having my 3 series serviced at my local Williams dealership, in fact I had it done in two different independent places and when I sold it on there were no issues.
