Merged: Service Cost & Intervals

My A35 is due this soon. I’ve asked a couple of places to give me an estimate but neither have replied yet.
Curious to know how much yours cost so I can decide which organ to donate sooner rather than later.
Thank you.
Please keep us posted on what you decide and how much. Personally I would always go for MB. Especially one with 4 matic.

Good luck, hopefully you should be okay. 🤞
All done thanks. The dent repair guy confirmed, his suspicion, it almost certainly happened at the dealership with someone's elbow against the panel. I said I also didn't pursue it as I didn't want someone getting sacked. He said it happens all the time at dealerships, and nothing would have happened 🤷‍♂️

This is what I just got back from an MB dealership…
  • Service B
  • Brake fluid replacement
  • Air filter replacement
  • Spark plug replacement
  • Clean and lubrication of the panoramic sunroof guide mechanism.
The total cost for this service is: £1013.54
You can start a service plan today and pay for this service and future services in installments. The amount that you pay, the monthly premium will be higher as you will be playing catch up as the plan will try and get you to a level where you had paid enough to cover your service in a year's time as well.

The quote you have will invariably increase from my experience without a service plan. MB garages always find extras which you won't refuse.

Welcome to the forum.

The service plan isn’t meant to save you money on the cost of a service but spread the cost. But in my experience when I didn’t have a service plan it always ended up being more than quoted with additional items required doing. In addition at my local MB it includes pick up and drop off or a courtesy car.

It sailed through the MOT, ie no items of note, but I had to call the dealership back as I couldn't see any of the recall work on the paperwork. It was all done apparently. Better comms would be good.

I'm guessing we will get a separate notification at some stage, fairly soon, about paying for continued apps use.

Have you guys looked at a 3 year plan. I noticed it reduced for the A45s. You can always cancel and get your money back for any remaining time, as I have in the past, if you don't keep your car that long. I would just caution that you look at the service types and costs covered in the 3 years so if you cancel the day after the service in year 2 it doesn't mean owing MB money.

Mot is not included in the SP.

An MB garage will give you a guide price so you'd probably do better to ask them rather than get a general ballpark idea from us.

I thought there were offers of 3 years free service for MB's below the A45s and A35.

On buying second hand I personally would only buy one serviced at a franchised dealer but in terms of selling it may not make much difference if you are going to hang on to it for a good few years.

While I would recommend an MB garage. I had my wife’s A200 in for its first service last week. Had it back cleaned and valeted. I checked the car over at door panel height all around. All was fine. But thee days ago I spotted a dimple above the driver’s side passenger door, in the roof panel. I’m fairly sure it was a result of the service/valeting. But it’s too late for me to tell the MB garage it was them. So wish me luck I’m taking it to my dimple repair guy on a 75 miles round trip, to get it fixed. Wishing me luck bit because the dimple location means he can’t do it from the inside of the vehicle, but by pulling the panel area out and then smoothing it gradually back in place.

I would get the service plan. It puts a cap on your general service cost. My previous MBs without a plan even when they were a few years old never came away being charged just the price quoted. There were always a bunch of add on I got charged for.

From driving the A200, you’ll also find that when you put your foot down you would expect more pickup.

Be interested in your feedback about the way you think it drives.

I wouldn’t leave it more than a month late otherwise it will lead to quibbling with MB about any warranty claims, if relevant.

I would take a look at this thread where I have posted about my less than good service experience. Please do check your service print out because the problem is caused by the service work sheet being created on the date that you book the service. At least that is the case at the MB garage I have used for the last three services.

I have looked back at the print out from the past three services and each is not based upon the precise age of the car. So the third service was carried out showing the car was 33 months old when it was 36. The 2022 was one month too low as was 2021.

All I can say is that I hope other items didn't fall through the cracks in their structuring of how the work sheets are generated.

(26) Servicing & rear diff oil changes | Page 8 | Mercedes A-Class Forum (aclassclub.co.uk)

No diff oil change, just a plain, quick B service. They gave me a EQB 4 matic, I have to say it was ok, pleasant to drive nice and quiet!!!!.
Just checked mine and only an engine oil change.

In January 2020, I took out a service plan for my 10 month old A180, 4 services paid over 36 months, with a monthly cost of £38.
That was then. My upfront cost for 3 services for my A45s was even less. I posted it somewhere on this site. But the current reality is different.

Did any of you guys have the diff oil changed. If so, that might explain why it was in one spot for a long time. On the original A45 it was a 3 hour wait for the oil to drain from the diff.
