Our car was in for some warranty work this week which they ended up not doing because one of the parts was wrong but they also said they couldn’t continue till recall was complete, I’ve done a vin search and nothing is showing as to what issue is with cooling hoses, anyone with any inside info, I dread theses clowns working on my car

The two of you seem to be having the same experience. I'll merge the two of your threads so that people can see the current issues in one place.

Hi

Just dropped my car off for a B service - 2 hour wait and collect - only to be told it will take 4-5 hours as there are some recalls to be done.

Switch panel for drive programs
Switch panel for drive programs software update
Coolant line design

plus ion addition Brake fluid change.

After catching two buses home I was contacted and advised "the parts are not in stock" so I queried what they were to be told they were related to the drive mode selection in the centre console ( Eco, Comfort, Sport Sport plus). But the 45s has it on the steering wheel I said. Go figure. Anyway, the parts are on order and they will call me to return.

If you take your cars in for service, check they have the parts for the recall before you go.

Now for the 2 bus ride back !!!

I've put your posts together as they are clearly a part of the same issue and a lack of joined up thinking by MB garages.

Sorry I probably said it wrong when I said diff work.
The diff was knocking like bog house door in a gale every time I pulled away.
My local Mercedes tried a few different things, including slackening off some bolts, giving things a little jiggle around and realigning and re tightened everything up again, but that didn't work.
I explained to them that I've read that a diff oil change could sort the problem, so that's what they did. Sure enough problem is now solved.
I also have had another issue where the engine cover has been rubbing on the underside of the bonnet, this has resulted in it rubbing all the way through the paint and part way through the metal 😬
Car is on 22k miles.
Here are the pictures of my new buttons and under the bonnet.

Seems to me they tried to match the matte buttons next to the touchpad, which isn't bad as an idea. Judging from that picture, it was nicely done too. Nevertheless, I agree with @TTG they don't look as nice as the original glossy ones, but IMO that's because now the glossy console itself looks a little out of place. You have a full gloss console and everything on it is matte. So while the original buttons didn't match the matte ones, they gave the whole set a more balanced look.

Thanks for the update. I’m surprised about the engine cover. They should get it repainted under warranty.

I guess we’ll all get the switches changed. But I don’t use them that much at all. Usually just to turn off the lane departure and turn off the piped sound.

Looking at @TTG's picture, up close I have to say it looks better than I thought. If I HAD to get mine changed I think I wouldn't mind that much, looks ok. Still prefer the original and come to think of it, it makes the console look longer, all the way up to the aluminum trim. That being said, there's nothing they can do if you just don't want them changed, it's your car. Been there, in fact it was an ECU update thing that I didn't want installed, a lot more serious than 4 buttons. Not on this car, but I never signed anything that committed myself to comply with whatever recall and update they come up with.

I would like to know what the issues with the glossy buttons are. I'll probably find out if they start going wrong . It might be tempting fate, but they all work absolutely fine right now.

This is the rubber I raised up a twist. View attachment 10141
Thanks for the picture.
Yes it looks to be the exact same spot.
What's your engine cover like, has it been damaged much from it rubbing on the bonnet?
The thing I find strange is that it was fine until I took it for it's B service, and it was only after that I noticed a mark on my engine cover.
At first I thought they removed the cover and damaged it in the process.
But a couple of weeks later I noticed that the mark on the engine cover looked worse than before, and it was just as I went to shut the bonnet that I noticed the rub mark on the underside of it, and in turn figured out that's what had caused the engine cover mark / rub mark.

Was your like that before it having a B service?
Just wondering if they remove the engine cover for the service and for some reason it's not fitting back properly, and add in the fact the bonnets are not correctly adjusted from factory makes me wonder if the gap between bonnet and engine cover is so tight, any disturbance of the engine cover is enough for it to start touching the bonnet.

I had coolant low again yesterday. Topped it up and it went so not sure if i need to contact MB.

But the switch "recall". Is it a recall or are you guys specifically experiencing a fault but it's not necessarily common.

Both are recalls - MB tel me to advise. Seems most will get done over a period. Once mine is done Ill post what actually was done.

I've called MB today to follow up on the coolant sensor and the switches. The garage, group switchboard has them as recall items for my car, but they will call me back once she can find out if they have to order the parts. This was a few hours ago, so I'm guessing I shouldn't hold my breath in getting a call back any time soon.

These being recall items, and the coolant problem actually seems engine critical, you wonder why MB could not contact owners rather than the other way around.

OK - had the recall done. two pipes and the switches around the handrest. they are matt grey now. see attached.

I also had a yellow engine light on the way home. Car was sluggish. Called Roadside assistance, they showed up in 15 mins, and 10 mins later diagnosed ECU fault. On closer inspection one of the 6 plugs into the ECU was loose. Pressed in and all OK. So when you have yours done, check under the bonnet to make sure the plugs are all in. Seems they have to remove the ECU to run the new pipes.

There is a recall for a power steering update, which is free and takes 20 minutes. You should check on the government site to see if it applies to you first https://www.check-mot.service.gov.uk/
