Hi, I have a 2019 a200d sport fitted with the hankook tyres, I'm just after some advise as per the road noise inside the car. To me it seems quite noisey and quite obtusive at speeds over 50 mph, on a motorway it's really quite loud with a distinct tyre roar. Is this normal? I've never had an a class before, but my mondeo I had previously was far quieter than this!

Beware using factory spec rear pressures of 2.3 Bar. The Hankraps deformed the inner edges after 20k miles, sounded like a tractor tyre by 49k miles.
Threw them away with 4mm remaining.
This car is not premium, its an over priced town car.
Biggest mistake ever trading a BMW quality ride for the tech of the MB.
Oh well, only a year to go before it can get sold on...

+1 for the dealer not doing the the PDI correctly.

We picked up a new A35 a week ago and since then I've thought the noise in the cabin was excessive and very sensitive to the road surface. I assumed it was the sports suspension (with the solid rear mount) and the ContiSport 6 tyres. However after reading this thread I just popped out to check mine.

With 18" wheels, the fronts should be 2.6 bar, they're currently sitting at 3.1bar. Rears should be 2.1 bar, they are 2.8 bar.

Now wondering what else they missed in the PDI.

This is our first Mercedes after 30+ years of VW and Audi. I left them because of constant poor dealer service (tried many dealers, even the Scottish Dealer of the year FWIW). According to JD Power surveys, Mercedes are supposed to be much better but this isn't a good start.

Is it the brand new model/facelift?
I have an older W177 myself and it is a bit noisier than the new W177 (late 2022). Tires can make a difference, tire pressure also plays a big role, not to mention size. Unfortunately I don't think it will change that much, I would have it treated with a soundproofing coating myself if my car was new. Not worth it now since it is too old and has driven over 100,000km (62,000mi)

You should say...

The car is so quiet it makes the tyres noisy haha....

Anyway, each tyre has a DB rating, I believe your current tyre is 72 or 71 db,

So if you take a look at a tyre comparison site they will show all the noise ratings the tyres have.

But bear in mind the most important thing about tyres is their grip in wet and dry conditions.

My wife’s A3 or previous Golf had Bridgestones. They were fine but not sure I ever thought they were noisy or quiet. I would try the sound proofing idea by @PRW first.

Good morning.

24Reg A45s.

Currently using the above which is fitted with Continental Sport Contact 6 245/35 x 19 tyres. They've done 5300 miles with even wear. The road noise IMO is quite loud. I've heard of tyres that have "quieter treads" that can be fitted on this car. Anyone got any suggestions please ?Thanks. KP.

PS4s on my 2020 A45s. Which are MO. Very good but softer walls compared to my previous A45 which had SP5. Which I switched to PS4 without the s. The PS4s is still noisy. Some concreate road sections where you cannot hear the satnav.
