I was recently looking through the Mercedes website and found a check function to see if my car was due any software updates . Too my surprise it came up as update required and they will write to owners to advise when the update is available . Having been stung by the VW update back in 2017 I don’t want to make the same mistake . Has anyone heard what the actual update entails , I suspect emissions related ?
I have the A200 Diesel OM651 engine . It does state it’s a voluntary update .

I have done a search on this topic and it looks like it’s a similar update as the VW one in 2017 which messed up a lot of cars . The MBclub forum topic I found recommends not having it done as it is voluntary. I was involved in the VW update and know the effects well so I will be making sure the update is not installed on my next dealer service visit . If anyone has had the update carried out it would be interesting to hear your thoughts .

I have just checked again on the Mercedes website and it no longer states that my vehicle requires an engine software update which I am pleased about having been effected by the VW update disaster in 2017 . It would be interesting to know why but guess will never know .
