And so it begins. The Mojave Missile has arrived.

After a day at work without the anticipated call, I had to chase down the dealer regarding the belated arrival of my A35 from Germany. "Hey dude ... where's my car?" was the culturally iconic message left, which appeared to have the desired effect.

Yes the car had arrived on site and was awaiting a slot in the workshop to swap the windows. Now it's time for some gloves-off conversation about the value of customer service and suitable appreciation for not going to an online broker, before getting down to the business of finalising the deal.

All being and going well, we should be on track for collection some time next week.

First question anticipated and although it is posted here and thereabouts ... the spec.

Mojave Silver Premium, no Style pack, 18 inch wheels, Titanium Grey / Black upholstery, Ride Control adaptive dampers, dealer installed Privacy glass.

Good to hear your car is in the country. As a fellow (well future) Mojave A35 owner I’m dying to see photos of your car soon...

Late one tonight, shopping for insurance. Conversation completed earlier on Friday, deal improved, gloves didn't need to come off. Car should be in the workshop for the window swap, dropping off the V750 for the private registration tomorrow (noted the epic fail with a V750 in the W177 forum).

All going well, we'll take the trusty W176 in and leave with the missile as soon as it is ready for collection, some suitable time next week. It looks like we're the first A35 customer down here, so there may be some kind of to-do waiting, nothing too public I hope.

I’m liking the body coloured mirror covers. Mine is going to have the black covers which are part of the styling/night pack, but I think I prefer the body coloured ones like yours

My stealth mojave is due this week too, already have the night pack mirror caps, window tints, window surrounds de-chroming, sill strakes and roof all booked in for the end of the month to be done on gloss black.

@Sceptical ... I've only driven an A35 with Ride Control, so can't really comment on the plain sprung version.
@AThirtyFive and Felix442 ... there's definitely something really cool going on with Mojave, but hopefully it's too out there for most tastes to end up as the new one in five like grey has.

Talking of grey, even with the missile inbound, I'm going to miss my trusty W176 A200. It hit me during an opportune depersonalise and wash session this evening.

My Blackvue DR490L dashcam came out in a surprisingly rapid 20 minutes, the most awkward part of which was the refitting of the rear passenger C-Pillar airbag cover. Then it was out with all the personal effects, like the jack kit, jump leads, cargo net, favourite Oakleys, car pass and such. Quick wash and vacuum, then a few sentimental photos.

Your W176 looks like a good one ?

I know what you mean by feeling sentimental about your outgoing car. Last weekend I put my beautiful (well to my eyes anyway) weekend steed up for sale to make way for the incoming A35. Whilst I was taking the photos after a fresh clean and polish, I found myself questioning whether I was doing the right thing in letting it go.

You’ll see why I chose Mojave for my A35 when you look at my Boxster. It’s a colour called GT Silver and in my minds eye (+ the pics shared on this forum) Mojave is very similar being silver with a slightly warm bronzy hue. Hopefully it’s close to GT silver in person...

From what I've seen in the metal, which is several cars now, Mojave won't disappoint. It shows even more light affected variation, from grey through silver to gold, every time I see it.

The missile will be ready for collection tomorrow, so we'll go in after work. Finally managed to arrange the insurance, they will swap over the A35 onto my A200 policy for the remaining six months tomorrow, for just the policy admin fee ... bargain!

I think I might almost be as excited as you are. Enjoy the collection tomorrow and post up plenty of pics when you get a chance

Long day, the deed is done. We drove in after work, met by our sales exec and transaction manager. After shuffling the necessary paper I was invited to do the unveiling, which left me slack jawed for a few moments. Absolutely the right choice of colour and oh so glad I persevered with the dealer fit privacy glass.

After managing to get the stupid grin in check, we did the brief version of the handover, brief being relative, that is. After the long side of an hour, handshakes and congrats complete, we were away on a circuitous route home, only a few miles from the dealer

First impressions are that if you have owned a W176 it is deceptively easy to get familiar with a W177, the A35 being no exception. A lot of what wasn't broken about the old car has been quietly carried over, from the seat adjustment to the bonnet opening.

The next thing that really struck me is just how civilised the A35 can be driven. With precise pedal work it is whisper quiet, the gearbox is so slick in comfort mode it is almost like a CVT, the sports seats are like grippy versions of their predecessors and the cabin is impressively isolated. Even in that imperious Mercedes waft-along mind set, brutally rapid progress can be made, minus the fuss and drama.

After placating a growling digestive tract, it was time for a session on the drive, to get some basics set up. Another cup of tea later and it was out again for a brief spin, with the feeble excuse of needing night familiarisation. Holy moly are the LED headlights bright, compared to the W176 halogens. The ambient lighting is much better than it looks in the reviews with the brightness toned down. Another matter of taste I know, but subtle is entirely possible with this car, though it could never be mistaken for dull.

I have a lot more to take in, I'm sure, but the W177 is for the most part an incredibly intuitive learning experience. It already feels like I've owned it a week, not an evening, after just two brief journeys and half an hour on the driveway.

We have told nobody about the A35 apart from our daughter. My next mission tomorrow morning is to park up at work and make it into the office unnoticed, then see how long it takes for anyone else to cotton on.

That colour looks great! Congrats on the new wheels. They should use images like that on the configuration site as it looks nothing like the boring colour on the website

Southwestwall that is indeed lovely. Congratulations, what a beaut! Really loving the colour and it seems to accentuate the curves and lines of the W177. It's everything I hoped it would be. For me, the dark drey would have been the safer option. It still looks great, but Mojave is on a different level and just that little bit different.

Even more pics when you get a chance please...

I'm now really excited for my own Mojave Missile, which BTW is being built/born today I believe :)

I think mine will be the only car with Bahia Brown leather. It's totally Marmite, and not just because it's the colour of said yeasty spread ;-) In fact the dealer my leasing company is using was so concerned that it was such an individual taste that they made me put down a larger deposit before they were prepared to place the order with the factory LOL.

Mate she is a beauty!!

Quick question, how did you approach the dealer fitted privacy glass? I had a quick chat with my sales exec and he said he could recommend a local tint specialist but I would much rather forego a 3rd party and have it done in house. Also how much extra did you have to pay for that to be done as it looks stunning!!! :)

Hope you enjoyed the drive into work this morning :)
