I was told the new A-Class will officially hit UK showrooms in January 2013. They are doing some sort of national tour with it. The A-Class was as Westfield in London over the weekend. Other upcoming dates are:
I ordered a 180 petrol manual in Sport trim. They have given me an estimated delivery range of 24th December to 15th January. If I had gone for an automatic they told me I could have it early December but I don't personally like to drive automatics so Im not bothered about waiting the extra time.
I just need to decide colour and options by next Friday to finalise the order and then its done. Im considering either the silver as seen in the TV ads (classic mercedes colour) or the mountain grey seen on the demonstrator model (more interesting perhaps).
I can tell you the car was amazing to drive and thought it the perfect balance between the refinement and comfort of the new A3 and the driving excitement and engaement of the new 1 series. I also felt the design inside and out was second to none. Stylish and upmarket without being too flashy and crash. I know its subjective but it worked for me.
The only downside was the boot access opening which is a bit narrow but once your in it the boot is on par with the main rivals in this class. Im changing from the ever dependable golf so practicality and refinement were key issue for me. However this is far more exciting than my golf I'm sure!
Saw a blue one in AMG Sport trim at Merc Gatwick yesterday. Had a good snoop around. Looks much better in the flesh than in the pics. Has a real purposeful sporty stance to it.
Also, saw a black one with the black multi spoke alloys; it was around Bluewater, must have been from the Dartford dealership.
I'm keen to drive the A180CDI with the 1.5 Renault sourced engine.
Yes Im leaning towards the mountain grey too but saw some pictures of the pale blue last night one that looks great also. It would be nice to see a silver one in the flesh to compare but I guess thats expecting too much. They had a white sport one there with the night pack installed (black gloss trims) which looked great but white cars are a bit showy and on trend for my liking!
Colour will always be such a subjective and personal choice
