Wrapped center console (Video added)

I’ll try again;
How difficult is this for a total beginner. I have a heatgun already and find my self pretty handy. But never tried this. Can you ruin the console or is the worst risk just that it looks bad and you pull it off and start again?

As long as your screwdriver is small enough I wouldn’t be afraid to just apply pressure and wiggle it around while pulling a bit.
I just got the 3M wrap in the mail and now waiting for the applying tools.

From my experience removing interior trim from VAG cars - you often need to close you eyes and apply more force than you feel comfortable with. Could only imagine that it’s even more tight on a luxury brand like MB.

I’ll give it a go in a week or so, if something is scratched I’m not to bothered and will just order a replacement part.

I can confirm that.

Just wrapped my centerconsole this weekend after studying the video, workshop guides and some YouTube videos about wrapping technique.

Never wrapped a thing in my life. Just ordered some of the recommended 3M CA421 carbon wrap on eBay and plenty of it.

Already had a real heat gun. A hairdryer is probably also useable- the gun is almost difficult to control. A 2-4 second burst is more than enough..

I was extremely careful when I clipping the centerconsole. And can also confirm that if you have ambient lightning - then it’s (a lot!) more complicated. Way more tight cables and some very tricky small covers to unclip. Think it took me one hour before I could bring the console inside and leave the unscratched parts in the car.

The wrap was okay. Bring a heat/hairdryer, a SHARP hobby knife where you can break of the blades as you go (the 3M glue makes them dull quick) and something to scrape/even out the bubbles and tuck in the edges.

My first attempt was 90% correct- but I used to much heat and also had a place where I couldn’t get the bubbles out completely. You can just peel it off - it leaves no residue and the black piano looks pristine underneath.
