Lynne how do you find the time? Youve done all that driving and all the forum posts aswell. I guess you never stop as there must be lots to do besides but its made up with a great car and some good friends.

An observation. I always notices when I got courtesy cars from Audi they had always been driven very carefully by the staff to save fuel. Once I drove them after about 100 miles they loosen up. It really does go to show the car will producedmore power once pushed harder.

Hit the big mark last night! Great fun the sound in manual is mad it reminds me of a wrc car on gear change, and the grip on the twisties is excellent very reminiscent of the Subaru. It's like 2cars, comfort for the commute and the rest for pure grin factor.

1000 miles at average of 60mph is nearly 17hours solid driving - Good luck :)

I think my avg for the first weekend was <30mph - couldn't resist driving through town.
Fortunately I do some motorway driving for work as well so that has helped.
989miles done - 33 mile trip home - some of that should be fun :D

When I was collecting a GT-R Dealer said he'd had a customer picked his Car up Friday and booked it in the following Monday for it'd first service He arrived back on the Monday with nearly 1200 miles on the Clock (was done in less than 72 Hours)

As someone who bought one of the most ordinary A45 in the world :) (Only 19" black alloy wheels and performance exhaust), will I get some grace from the exhaust in C mode with low revs in the first 1000 miles?

<div sab="848">
<div sab="849">For the first 500 miles I stayed in C mode and not exceeding 4000rpm. After 500 milesI played around in M and took the car to the full recommended 4500rpm.
<div sab="850">
<div sab="851">Keeping the car in very low rpm for the run in is not beneficial. S and M modes you will get the fun noises from the exhaust! M ensures you can change gear when you want to, in S you may accidentally exceed 4500 rpm.

Well I hope you enjoyed Tigers last game as much as I did :) Sir Andy Goode

Was just thinking tonight that the A45 is a grown up P1

tobycruse is quite correct with regard to running in. The engine needs varying revs from the go to help an even bed in,its no good treating it like a baby to start as this is the most important time. 3 weeks will get me past the running in and then will build up gradually in stages of 150 to 200 miles until i reach around 1700 then its let rip.

Yeah, I agree with yourself and Toby. I've pretty much just drove as I normally would, just with a few caveats: no harsh acceleration/full throttle, and not exceeding 4500rpm. So hopefully the engine has had a nice mixture of loads/rpm without just a constant 1000 miles of molly coddling. It goes without saying that I of course don't load the engine or gearbox at all until all are up to temperature and the temps are no longer blue under the AMG menu.

I have been using S and M a little bit but just again being careful not to downshift and overrun the engine over 4500rpm. Under light-moderate acceleration you can still get a bit of an upshift crack if you pull the paddle at about 4000-4500rpm

Totally agree and did the same running in. Warming up, doesn't the gearbox take a long time, once it's warm it does hold the temp if parked up for a while

I am soon to be passing the 1500 mile mark. I will post up if the car begins to feel quicker in anyway as its the first milestone for the ECU.
