Did you have extended warranty.. I've bought the extended warranty but it doesnt start till June 13th .. almost scared to drive it till then..

Glad to hear you have been given a resolution. hopefully it doesn't take long to sort.
Approved used Mercedes so from dealer 2 years as it’s Amg. There was no quibble about it. I’d drive it. But if it goes wrong, get a private recovery and report it when your warranty starts ;) it will be 2 weeks or more. Part availability dependant.

There have been reports of the A220 having the same issue as the A35. I imagine the A220 block is less stressed in its application, so the numbers are less.

M260 its full MB the problem its the block, same issue in A220/A250/A35 same engine/block

The renault its a180/a200 1.3 and a250e 1.3/electric
Wasn’t it the Renault/mitsi/Merc collaboration engine? Always destined for disaster! Bit like the Citroen nemo. / pug bipper / fiat fiorino micro van.

3 manufacturers all donating bits. Parts nightmare!

I’d agree with that. 👍

Much less power and stress on components always provokes reliability. When I forged my Evo 8 I forged it for 250hp per cylinder so 1000 hp capable.

I ran 560 hp total. Never missed a beat. 2500 hard track miles👍

MB now use an "MB" 1.3 engine but Nissan's use of the engine still continues and I posted about some of the Qashqai's problems.

I wouldn't have bought an A200 for my wife if it still used the Renault engine.

In spain there its more 220/250 problems than a35 its same block but its not the same some parts of the a35 are forged and better coolant pieces etc...
My parents lived in the canaries for over a decade. The toll taken on cars there is horrific! Heat/sun/dust ruin just about every part of a new car. I guess climate is a factor 👍

their brand new micra looked ten years old after just 2/3 years and it was well looked after.

off to go get the gla…..let’s hope it hasn’t got this engine in it 😂🙃

I stand corrected 😂 tbh it was my car nut son that said it was the Renault block in mine. I shall suitably chastise bwhahahaha!
The 180/200 is Renault in 1.3L. But the sales guy, and while I don't often rely on them, but he did seem a cut better than ones I have previously come across, said it is MB. I researched it and while it is a Renault block, I have not come across the same issues and think it is up to a good MB standard. That is the issues the Nissans have suffered seem not to happen. I stand to be corrected if others know different.

@Gnome Any update on the eta for your new head.
Yes they completed it Wednesday but didn’t replace the tensioner to cure the cold start chirping - parts in order but I’m in a ticking clock!

need car back for Wednesday as Thursday I’m off to Alpine F1 in endstone to pick up my unit to haul their engineering pod round Europe for a few weeks!

got the job Friday! Going to be a mental summer gigging round all the Europe f1 tracks!

That's until August right? Many worse things to be doing.

I hope I have put this in right place … so I have a 2020 a35 29,000 miles full service history bought privately …so the management light came on .. on further investigation the garage are saying it requires new cylinder head ! And it’s a common issue on this car At a cost of £5000 + so I then came to this forum for help and see it’s a common problem .. Mercedes have said they will pay 75% but this feels so wrong surely they should be fixing this FOC has anybody managed to get it sorted with Mercedes covering the full cost … advise appreciated
