But I'm not talking about Rebellion here!
I know what happened to them so all those comments are irrelevant to me. I have had their system for over 3yrs on my A45 and they have been great. In fact, Rebellion gave me a free upgraded system when the first module(v1) failed. Meanwhile, I must agree that I also had a little issue with their aftersale support in the initial stage but worked out to be good at the end. Thanks

 

Thanks. I also spoke to RennTech who are also ECU remap, I guess my big concern is being protective over the warranty. A box could provide an easy 'get out' where as an ECU remap surely is detectable even though DMS are insisting they provide unlimited call outs to revert to stock. Appreciate your thoughts on this?

As per my previous post Willow Performance have a box but personally dont know if they're reputable and well placed to do this type of thing or not....

Good post. Real eye opener. You always get what you pay for, or not in these cases, hence my choice of Brabus.

According to a local dealer, UK (Northern Ireland) based TMC are developing a tune too. Went to see what they currently offer and it looks like they make tuning boxes. Anyone familiar with these guys? I didn't have an A45 before like most of you guys but I suspect 431hp/584nm are pretty good numbers for only a tuned FL W176 engine.

I couldn't see the A45s. It had the previous A45. But in any case I don't know about them.

 

Right, so any news of Brabus? I emailed them about a week ago and asked a few questions including launch date estimate, power increase, top speed increase and whether it'll be remap or tuning box and all they said was that they're developing a tune. Can you believe that, and here I thought it was already released and everyone knew about it except me. Such a relief to find out it's still in development [enter sarcasm here]. I hope their tune is better than their customer service (providing useful answers is an important part of customer service).

 

Yes they are being very unGerman and running late. Somebody will be taken out and shot for the delay.

 

Not only that, video or it didn't happen.

 

Curious as to if anyone has tried or researched any further the RaceChip option. As a tuning box it has a few merits and noticed they also offer an engine warranty (for what its worth)... so has a few benefits which have caught my eye.

 

@Irish boy looked into it. This video reviews RaceChip

but I have seen other reviews which have not been at all enthusiastic. One of the guys put a video up comparing various tune boxes v mapping which I couldn't find quickly but perhaps you might search for.

 

Boys go for a dms or msl what ever you prefer I had my car to mercedes last week and car was plugged and and couldn’t trace the map in the car

forrester showed me the **** reviews racechip had didn’t bother I have had all my work vans and road cars mapped by dms never one fault and would fly over to me as soon as I ever ring them which is such a plus

I wouldn't worry about the exhaust mod while the A45s performs the way it does and even with the piped sound off it still sounds excellent within the cabin and it's obviously also outside as when I pass other cars they look over on many occasions.

 

@Irish boy thanks what’s the process then with DMS do you get them to come over and return to standard before MB visit then back out to re apply map after? They told me unlimited call outs which I can’t understand how they can justify if they visit you and your not local...

That’s the deal I have they have a lot of customers in north and south of Ireland

When there coming back to me they will have 2 vw transporters to remap
And a e43 new x5 and my A45S
So I get them business also with friends etc

 

Well this was a surprise response from Brabus when I contacted them today ref remap.

So maybe they're not bringing something to market for the A45S 🤷‍♂️

 

Btw the response I got (see previous page) came from the same person, and they explicitly said they're developing a power upgrade for the requested car, and they don't know when it will be available (email dated 06/12). Has to be what @Forrester said, that something may have been lost in translation, I mean what the **** could've possibly happened between June 12th and today. So I think in their response to @alias23 they forgot to say "yet". And that's on top of running late. Hard to believe it's Brabus we're talking about. Very disappoint. 🙄

 

Can you share your question to them please. I think something may have been lost in translation. Brabus do tuning boxes so it might have been the term remap they specifically responded to. They being German they do respond very literally.

As I only e-mailed them last week I will leave it a little while and might call them next time. Anyway it is what it is. I probably won't go with any other stage 1 if they don't produce something, which I am fairly sure they will otherwise it will be the only full fat AMG they haven't done some power enhancement for.

 

Isnt that annoying? U buy VAG or BMW car and after first day of selling those cars there are thousands of tuning parts but for Merc almost none after 2y of production...its like we are on the other world

 

It's much more profitable (payback is quicker) investing in tuning for VW Group cars, the sheer numbers of cars sold by the whole group (eg lots of VW Group cars use EA888 Engine) vastly overshadow any Mercedes A class variants.
