Car is 69 plate a200 AMG line executive plus. The right passenger door won’t open from the inside. Is there a child lock on these doors? Your help are appreciated.

Hi

I received my A250e 14/07/21 after three days driving I have more questions than answers.
I think its a good car, but it does many things that I dont understand.

After you start driving, the central locking locks the doors. After this if I come to a halt the front passenger cannot open there door until I open mine, or click the central locking button on my door.

This is really annoying my partner - is this normal/meant to happen? Is there a setting somewhere to change the functionality of the passenger door lock.

Kind regards

Rob

Welcome to the forum Rob.

That's definitely not normal - there are reports of similar issues to this (albeit with older E-Class and C-Class) and the recommendation is always to get it back to the dealer. While it is an inconvenience, its also a safety issue so needs rectifying.

I had this annoying issue with my a200d. I never realised when it stopped doing it but MIGHT have been when I had my MBUX update done. Saying that, I would have thought your car would be up to date with it being brand new. My a250e has never done it.

Just checked this on my car.

Got in my,car, started, drove off, auto locking activated, stopped at traffic lights.
Leant over, pulled the front passenger door lever, door opened and central locking unlocked all the doors.

Sounds like you have a fault.

All doors should/must work mechanically to open the door from the inside. They have a Bowden cable connected from the door release lever, to the mechanical latch on the door.

Once that mechanical release is activated, only then are the secondary functions (eg releasing the central locking) are performed.

In the unlikely event that you car goes into a river/lake - say the electrics short and the fuses blow - so no electric windows and no central locking - you must still be able to escape from the car by opening the door from the inside mechanically - without any power.

Hi! New to the forum here and digging up old threads as my A class is driving me mad. Having the same front passenger door issue and my local dealer was arguing this is supposed to be how the door functions, which clearly isn’t the case. Was on the phone for 10 minutes for them even to agree to have a look again. Said they had the door card off and checked everything and did a software update and all was working as normal. As soon as I got home, low and behold the door wouldn’t open. Any luck from your dealers getting this issue fixed? Aside from this the whole car seems to rattle everywhere! Little disappointed from this so called “premium” brand!

You should check that you can open your doors from the inside, using just the handle.

*note this is speculation as to the cause of the tragedy, multiple factors may have been involved, but it doesn’t hurt to ensure your doors can open from the inside without any electrics.

Presumably that means with both main and auxiliary batteries disconnected. Make sure you have someone outside able to help if they don't open or are prepared to clamber out of an already open window!

There have been posts here about the front passenger door not opening from the internal handle and I have experienced that myself. That must mean that the passenger door at least is dependant on electrics. Either electrics are needed for the internal handle to work, or even worse that it's possible for electrics to override a mechanical linkage. In that case you will never know.

More sensible is not to drive into deep water, observation will show when that is likely in most cases.

Hi,

my 2020 a180 automatically locks when driving. I’ve noticed a couple of times that when I have got out, one of the rear doors hasn’t unlocked and I have the use the key fob. Each time, it has been when no one is in that seat, I had my jacket on that seat today.
Is it a feature of the car or a fault?
My last Mercedes was an E220 and when you opened any door from the inside, the whole car would unlock.

If it's random then it's a typical Mercedes glitch that a dealer would stand no chance of finding and fixing.

A couple of times my front seat passenger hasn't been able to get out using the internal handle until either I've unlocked the doors or switched off.

You just have to live with it.

Hi I think you may have transposed your post.

It’s important to check that your doors can be opened from the inside even if the electrics fail
