Currently exploring options to make the exhaust louder. On the lookout for any exhausts being released or custom mods people are thinking of.

iPE have released an exhaust which will be ready in 4 weeks. They have quoted £2950 for the exhaust and £500 for shipping and fitting.

I am thinking of doing just a back box delete for now but unsure if this would affect the warranty in any way. I imagine it will only affect the warranty on the exhaust but not on the engine.

Does anyone have any pictures of the underneath of the car? How many resonators the car has or what the piping looks like?

If it’s anything like the A35 then the only resonator after the GPF is the back box itself, and back box deletes are very popular, nice increase in sound without the expensive outlay of a full system. Might be worth checking out PCW exhaust mods, they modify standard exhausts, plenty of videos on YouTube etc. I was quoted £280 for a modified back box on my A35.

Why don't you take the car to an exhaust shop?
Deleting resonator would definitely make a huge difference. A mate did it on his new CLA45S and it sounds a tad louder, insanely louder pops and bangs in S/S+/R modes. We get AMG exhaust without OPF so that makes difference too, our cars are slightly louder but more refined and subdued compared to outgoing models. Resonator and rear muffler pictures attached.

Technically the A45s without OPF should also be more free breathing and as a result a tad quicker. After the new EU regulations, many manufacturers had to fit in OPF filters in their cars which saw a reduction of max hp.

Maybe good to try a few timed performance runs on yours and see how it stacks up with the owners from the UK?

They don’t want much for the exhaust that’s big bucks

Would it be better to do a muffler delete rather than a resonator delete?

“The main distinction is that a muffler is designed to muffle the overall volume across all RPMs, whereas a resonator is designed to eliminate unwanted resonance or noise at a particular RPM, also known as exhaust drone.”

My Ecu is going to Dms start of the week to get there map in it supposed to be 480-490 bhp
and getting Dms to turn off the opf filter etc was thinking off cutting out the opf and cat and resonator am I mad? How does this work with warranty ? could I bust out the opf without them knowing ? whats your views

Ok wait so there's four components that affect the exhaust sound? The cat, OPF, muffler and resonator?

Lol I reckon they will know if the OPF has come out. Warranty is a grey area ... is the OPF after the engine? If so physically removing it can't really affect the warranty of the engine (which is the important part). Any exhaust mods I've heard only affect the warranty of the exhaust but not the car or engine. But if they find out you messed with the ECU then that'll void the warranty on the engine I reckon.

Ok so I picked up my car yesterday. It sounds amazing ... its definitely louder. The sound is similar but louder and slightly deeper which is what I was looking for. I’ll add some pics and videos of the exhaust and sound later.

One issue. The garage were a bit baffled - it was the first time they had seen it. There was a pressure sensor at the rear of the exhaust. They have no idea what its for but they added it to the new exhaust anyway. And in idle, when you start the car and switch the exhaust on, the valve opens but when you press your foot against the accelerator, it shuts the valve straight away. They messed around with it and tested different things and concluded its coded into the car. Maybe this has something to do with the pressure sensor?

Weird thing is, in the iPE video for the a45s exhaust, they manage to keep the valve open when revving in idle ...

Also if you look carefully, it looks like they have a decat downpipe in the vid. I thought they had only released a catback exhaust??

Anyway ... thoughts?

Spoke to DMS who advised that the sensor was an air pressure sensor to make sure the OPF is working. They think the valve closing when revving at idle is a fault ...

Can someone check on their oem exhaust whether this is the case. I’ve got a better video of the valve closing when revving at idle. You can hear the valve open again after i let go of the accelerator.

You would have been a great fella if you would have got a downpipe made and a couple spare when your car was in
Milltek are mid August end to get there new OPF delete and super sprint are by order only which is 5-6weeks when placing order
Ipe can send straight away buts is costing $1300 plus import duty etc
