Exhaust Mods/Upgrades

Currently exploring options to make the exhaust louder. On the lookout for any exhausts being released or custom mods people are thinking of.

iPE have released an exhaust which will be ready in 4 weeks. They have quoted £2950 for the exhaust and £500 for shipping and fitting.

I am thinking of doing just a back box delete for now but unsure if this would affect the warranty in any way. I imagine it will only affect the warranty on the exhaust but not on the engine.

Does anyone have any pictures of the underneath of the car? How many resonators the car has or what the piping looks like?

Gentlemen, I'm fresh after installing the CatBack exhaust from MG MotorSport (A45S).
It gets better but this is not it. I read the whole topic from the first page and I don't know anymore. Of course, I want to keep the guarantee.
Does anyone know about a new method that will leave a warranty and at the same time increase the volume of the exhaust without errors in the ECU?

My Armytrix full system (200ceramic cell downpipe) no errors on MBUX car system.
Only error in the MB checking time but no problem.
I cannot send you all a video yet of my A45S because it still at service (3weeks!) waiting fir solution😒 the gearbox blocked after a gear recalibration. AMG plant suggests to replace some part ... waiting for it 😳.

Anyway some fresh Armytrix link :

Regards..👋🏼

I have the Akrapovic downpipe and catback installed.

Taken using a GoPro Hero 9 with the media mod casing and noise suppressor microphone cover, and the video was recorded with the car driven below 100 km/h and entirely on partial throttle below 4000 RPM.

Might have to listen to the in-car video with earphones for a more accurate sound.

Got the Akra on today, sourced and fitted (for free) by Ricky at RE Performance in Swindon. Top work by the guys as they'd not done a W177 Akra fit yet. The back box came with its own valve controller in situ but this then connects to another Akra control unit which takes a feed off the TCU which is also where the "artificial" bits get processed.

Sounds louder and bassier at idle with a bit more howl under load. Probably enough for me, I'd only add the downpipe if there was a decent performance lift but that seems to be not the case as per @changchewsoon

Its claimed to make another 8.5 HP so will see if it improves on my DTUK Map1 100 - 200 kmh time next time I get near an airstrip :)

Maybe you read my post wrongly, I was saying that the dyno wasn't able to pick up any gains with the Akrapovic catback or the Armaspeed intake installed. I wasn't able to install the downpipe that time because the unit sent by Akrapovic didn't fit my car due to missing 2 bung holes for the extra sensors for post 2020 cars.

Akrapovic has then sent me the revised downpipe later and I have gotten it installed, but I wasn't able to get it tuned because of the pandemic lockdown in my country whereby the government only allowed the shops to operate until 6 pm.

I was late in sending in the car, and they had to wait for a while to let the downpipe cool down before removing it. The stock downpipe was really a pain to remove, and it took them much longer than expected. By the time we finished installing the downpipe, it was almost 6 pm so I only had the car on the dyno to do a pull with the same map to see the difference and I headed home.

Due to the time zone difference my tuner is 12 hours behind me, and in the past, I would book the dyno 8 pm/9pm my local time so that my tuner can remote tune the car which is 8am/9am his time. But now since the shops aren't able to operate past 6 pm, I'm waiting for a suitable time to put the car on the dyno again to tune it, most probably after our government has lifted the restrictions on operating hours.

With the downpipe installed, we could see that the turbo spools up much earlier and we gained some noticeable torque with the same current map I'm running before.

Hope this helps you in making an informed decision whether you would consider going with a downpipe in the future.

Also attached a picture of the stock downpipe vs the Akrapovic downpipe. My car is non-OPF version by the way.

Hello, I am about to buy a decatted miltek downpipe but it states it’s only for vechiles without additional sensors?

this is what I want:

https://www.milltekexhaust-roadrunn...rbo-w177-hatch-only-particulate-filter-back-exhaust-non-resonated-ssxmz153.html

and then the downpipe

I have a 2021 A45s and I’m from the UK. Will these two fit on my car?

can anyone give me any advice? Thanks

You'll first need to determine whether your car's downpipe is running on a pair of sensors or 2 pair of sensors. The easiest way is to look at the engine bay and see whether you can see there 1 sensor or 2 sensors at the downpipe.

If it has 2 sensors, then the Miltek downpipe will not be suitable for your car. If it has one, you can use it.

Secondly, you will need to determine whether your car is the GPF or non-GPF version. If it is GPF, you'll need a ECU remap to go with it or else the car will have a check light and the power will be restricted as a safety measure by the ECU.

As far as I know, UK models are fitted with GPF.

I've attached 2 pictures below, one with only 1 sensor attached and the other is with 2 sensors on the downpipe so you can get a visual idea of what I'm talking about.

Yeah I've been following this guy. I wish I could hear it in person. The pops and bangs sound a lot more aggressive but I'm not sure whether the engine tone is aggressive enough for me. If your car has the extra temp sensor are you just stuck for now downpipe wise? Seems Miltek is out of the question if you have the extra sensor.
