have you suffered

FL 2016 here and i've posted before and probably in this thread. I get a thud on automatic gearchanges 3 to 2 and 2 to 1. Have reported it to mercedes and they say its normal. I've just put up with it and it doesn't really seem to be worsening at all. I put it down to "sports car".

What do you mean by (knock) "when selecting gears"? Do you mean in manual mode and pulling the paddles, or selecting D, N, R?

I've never had the R crunch that others report, though i may not be simulating the right conditions for it to occur. I do get a very minor thud sometimes when selecting drive but i'm pretty sure i've experieince this in other automatic cars. I just put that down to the nature of having selected drive and the car naturally wants to move.

So in mine, my concern is the downshift thuds and i'll be giving merc an earful before warranty expires to make sure its noted.

Ok I'd put it down to ""Ëśsports car' too but the thud I get when slowing down is really irritating I don't believe that it is normal for any car to that when slowing down coming to a hault. And when I meant selecting gears I meant when I'm stationary I get that little thud or knock when I select D,N or R from P..

I have a FL 2016 and I get all of those thudsfrom time totime. The one on slowing down is the more noticeable and happens quite a lot but it's normal apparently and just a "feature" of the model...
I just live with it and forget about it as it doesn't affect the driving at all.

So a Mercedes tech came out to me this morning done a software update on the gearbox which has actually made the clunking sounds worst.. I've driven to Mercedes as I was parking reversing into a bay I put it in park and DUNKKKK it was the loudest one I've heard ˜³ they said it'll take 1 week before looking at the car

Well, after about a year and just 2500 miles my replacement gearbox has now started to crunch. I was under the impression it was a 'fixed' version but I guess not. Its exactly the same as before, the usual crunch when selecting reverse after being in drive when the transmission under 12C.<div abp="893">
<div abp="894">Will be taking it into the dealers next week. They were brilliant last time, but even if its fixed againI'm seriously thinking about getting rid now.

that's a shocker mate!!!! rather than just sell and you are considering getting rid then look at getting them to take the car back as not fit for purpose, the Ford RS boys are returning theirs when over a year old because of the engine issues

Really sorry to hear this. Ours has finally been fixed after the second attempt and 18 months of pushing the dealer. I will now be asking for an extended warranty because sadly I have little faith that this can be considered a long term fix.

I feel for everyone that has experience this, I was considering buying the A45 but I don't think I want to risk it now. A lot of you have the patience of a saint and I sadly couldn't hack the stress it would cause me, I'm bad enough as it is with the current cars.

I had gearbox concerns as I wanted a used facelift. I bought used approved from a merc dealer, not only was the price better than the performance car specialists, you get a 2 year amg warranty.

Don't let the gearbox put you off, my previous car had all big serious issues that were common on the forums, all got resolved by saab... Just before they went bust! Edited by: pmb5

This evening I picked up my A45 AMG from Brooklands with the replacement gearbox. The short drive home showed very good signs. No more clunking/jerkiness from 2nd to 1st and a very smooth change up and down the gears, all in Comfort mode and not over 4000 RPM.

Now I have to be patient for the next 900 miles and run it in.

Does it need a 1000 mile run in again?

Another plus point of the new gearbox is there is no hesitation when accelerating from a standstill in comfort mode. It was downright scary when there was a delay and then a lurch forward when pulling out of a junction. This has now stopped, thankfully.

Good luck - Mercedes collected my car as i won my complaint against them through FOS, I was awarded my deposit back plus stat interest, goodwill, comp.... which meant the highly specced AMG A45 cost me in the region of ÂŁ55 per month for the last 27 months, pre that my A45 AMG Sept 13 - Sept 15 cost me nothing due to a GAP payout which meant I received back what I had paid in, in effect an AMG for the last 51 months for ÂŁ1,500! Mind you the crash (albeit at slow speed) and the faults (lots) I had with FL version have been a real pain, goodbye and good riddance AMG A45's. A nice looking car with a lovely interior, however produced with cheap parts.

They really have to pull their socks up & put in some real effort into the W177 to make it a viable option for the consumers like us. I have heard so much issues with the car - low rent interior materials used, rattling sound all over the cabin, hardware issues like the DCT & turbo. They should have heard it by now - loud & clear the complains so far about the A45 from the dissatisfied owners. With the W176 IMHO they were too busy ramping up the production & sacrificed QC in the process. Let's hope is a lesson for them.
Cheers mate!
