Being extra careful wasn't enough. I had to brake in a very narrow spot and this happened.

I am by no means an expert with this kind of thing but I've done something very similar and after taking it to a performance alloy repair center they stated that the rim would have to be cut around the entire edge to smooth/even it out. Depending on how deep or lipped the damage is will depend on how much they will need to cut. The cost would be approx ÂŁ100 but the rim when inspected would look slightly different to the others in the set and also he recommended waiting until further damage is incurred over the ownership of the vehicle and get them all of the collated damage on the rim done in one go.

Yes a good alloy wheel repair company should be able to repair that for a reasonable sum. I had a wheel re-cut and refinished on my W176 A-Class when the rim edge was damaged from a puncture, which cost around 85 pounds at the time (about 100 euros).

Argh! I feel for you @alan_m, it's a horrible feeling when that happens, and it happens to the best of us as it just takes one moment of misjudgment

TBH, from the photos it doesn't look too bad. If you're like me you'll probably be the only person to really notice it. I'd be inclined to take @jayz-amg 's advice and just leave it as sods luck will dictate that you'll do it again just after you've had it repaired, but I guess it depends how much the damage really bothers you. As both @jayz-amg and @Southwestwall have said, there are plenty of good wheel refurbishers who can repair diamond cut rims these days.
