Hi all

My A200 is nearly five years old so I'm looking to change. I don't like the facelift A class without the mousepad, so I'm considering the CLA. I can apparently get a 23 plate CLA200 for just north of £25k which seems like a bargain.

I know this is perhaps not the right forum for such a discussion, but any thoughts appreciated.

My first thought is that I personally need a hatch and would find buying a saloon inconvenient. Also what is the headroom like in the back of the CLA.

Facelift is really good, I love how the hybrid system spools the turbo up so kickdown isnt really needed for normal driving. Only thing I hated was no track pad , but I retrofitted that.

Hi,

sorry in advance if there’s already a forum on downgrading models

I currently have an A220 with the 2.0l merc engine but for the journeys I do, I’m not sure if it’s the most ecomomical for me anymore

i’m back and forth cardiff bay 3 days a week but most of the time the car has shortish jorneys.

I’m thinking of going down to an A200 eventually, 1.3 engine petrol. Either part exchanging the a220 or selling privately

would I notice the change a lot? Do you guys think this would be considered a proper downgrade?

I’d say yes. Your current engine is a much better one, think you’ll find it noisier on longer journeys and I doubt the consumption will be much better. I’d get a good test drive of the 200 before committing

Just my thoughts though. I did test the 200 but opted for the 250 as the 220 wasn’t an option when I got mine

I just bought an A200 for my wife. It seems to be above 43 mpg with less than 500 miles on the clock. I think that’s reasonable. Most cars have downsized engines these days. The A3 my wife previously had had a 1.5 and that was very good. I think by going for an A200 you are definitely not downgrading. Just the opposite.

Thanks for your input, I see the 250 is basically like the a220 just a bit more powerful

i’m just thinking because the 2.0l is a guzzler and it’s thirsty for fuel, it just may not be suitable for a 50 mile commute each day for three days in the week and shorter journeys thereafter

I wont rush into anything just yet

I wont rush into anything just yet, but i’m considering it as i seem to waste like 10 miles after just moving 3 or 4

I wouldn't mind knowing the MPG of the FL A-Class, as you and I am sure many others do. I have started a new thread so we can find out.

I’ve bought the FL A200 for my wife from her A3. My main gripe is that the brakes are not as good. But it may be the bedding in process still. I also find the missing touch pad next to my A45s which has them, a real pain.

Hi everyone I'm new to this forum just needed some advice.

I currently drive a mercedes 2021 A220D 2.0 diesel. I drive about 100 sometimes 150 miles per day for work. I'm thinking of changing to A200 petrol 22 plate 1.3 as the inside has ambient lighting. It has a bigger screen and so on.

What do you guys think? Is if worth going petrol?

I bought my wife an A200 new April 2024. I like it and its overall economical on a run but the ground clearance for its soft suspension is way too low.

Hi
just sold my 2020 a250e and thinking about buying the facelift version.
I saw that the 0-100 acceleration is 7.5s compared to the 6.6s of the pre facelift. Is that accurate? How did it get slower?
What are the key differences and is the driving experience different?
Are the sound systems the same?
Also when will the all new A-class is expected to come out?

Thanks!

Hi there

I know there's a thread from 2019 asking the same question, but with the addition of the mild hybrid, how much of a difference is there between the A200 and A180?

163 v 136 hp sounds a lot, and the 0-60 times go up from 7.7 to 8.9. I'm not a fast driver and presumably the 180 is slightly more fuel efficient, but is it any louder?

I think you can only go by the MB numbers, which off the top of my head, didn't show a significant difference in MPG or Db. The A200 of my wife's also doesn't seem as fast as her previous A3 2017 with the 1.5L 150 ps engine, manual.
