Hi guys, what are the preferred lowering springs for our cars?
google only throws up H & R,but I'm afraid they may be a bit too low for my taste.

Many thanks chaps and any pics would be much appreciated

H&R's mate - they only lower 25mm. I've them on my car and the ride is as good if not better than standard!

Beware of some internet searches showing a 40/45mm drop for the A45 - these are the wrong springs!

There's a few threads on lowering the A45 if you do a search.

Having just puchased an AMG fitted with H&R Springs also 10mm Hubcentric Wheel Spacers i'd say this. For looks alone it looks fab but in reality its impractical and a nightmare, my reason, you are always worrying about pot holes and anything bigger than a knats arse that the front tyres will hit the front aches, ive now removed the spacers but left the springs in situ, result, no more worry with tyres hitting arces and it still looks good. Whta ive now done it to take the Spacers to have them made 5mm instead of the original 10mm, ill try them back on and see if there are any clearance issues then.

Cheers.

Watti,

did reducing the spacers to 5mm fix the problem and still look good? Were they H&R spacers and were the wheels the standard ones or aftermarket?

Reason I ask is that other people report no issues with the 10mm spacers and lowering spring combo from H&R, so I thought something else might be affecting the equation.

I assume Eibach don't make springs for the 45? I've always used Eibachs but may have to get H&R's when the time comes but with all the potholes and huge speed bumps around I'm not sure whether to bother? I've had bad experience with lowering springs before. :D

Ride on H&R's is back breaking

H&R's on the A45 are complete garbage, not enough damping on the OEM dampers to run the H&R's. They were simply not built for our dampers.

Looks spot on though, the way it should've left the factory for sure.

Looking into other setups.

Completely disagree!!!!

I've done thousands of miles on the H&R's and ride quality is no different if not a bit more compliant than the stock springs. I'm sure others such will back me up on this as I'm sure people have said the same!

There are 2 versions knocking about (different part numbers) and one version drops too low at 45mm.

Maybe it was this Aoon?

The 2nd pic was taken the day after they were fitted back in September last year@ 3k miles,so its prolly dropped a little more by now......there is now certainlyno room to pokeany of my little fat fingersbetween the arch gap

lowering springs will always come out 2nd best to coilovers we all know

Now.I havehad 3 or 4Subarus andalso anEvo 9 all on Bilsteins(which never seem to drop quiteas much as they claim imho)and an Evo 10 on -25 Apex springs and all without any loss of comfort

but, blimey O'Reilly I am findingthe ride on the 45much,much firmer and harsher than it ever was before. Not that I'm complaining,as its not a dd and overall I'm pretty much ashappy as Larry with them but, most passengersdotend to moanquite a lot

Aren't you on the performance suspension from the factory Aoon?

I'm sure you were and no wonder your H&R's weren't right.....

Looked in to this before I got my H&R's, Brabus do coilovers at around ÂŁ2500, warranty keptbut not even their dealers Brabus)in the UK would fit them, they said it was to technical for them and they did not have the software and technical ability, thus H&R's
