Hello everyone,

I have a 2019 model which I have owned for just less than a year and is still under extended warranty. I have been considering tuning the car a bit, mostly a tune box and an improved air intake to start and wondering about people’s experiences from a reliability perspective. The cylinder head problem pops up quite a bit and makes me nervous to tune the car. Understand turning may void the warranty which is an ok risk if there are no issues with this engine but with this hanging over my head I am a bit nervous about it.

Hope some can shed some experience after a year or two of a tuned engine?

Thanks

Has the engine head work been done on your car, if not tuning would seem a gamble.

The A35 cylinder thread indicates the rough mileage when the problem might occur. But then again it doesn't happen to everyone.

HI. I had a 2019 A35 and had the stage 1 tune. All I did was a engine remap (rolling road tune) and performance air filter. Went up to 385hp which I was very happy with. Beauty of this change is that its invisible apart from air filter which I changed to normal if it ever went in dealership for servicing. The company also had engine insurance cover if anything went wrong and 3 years of free 'remap' cover if it's wiped by a Mercedes update during a service.

Thanks Craig, that sounds like a good option.. I will need to check if we have an insurance cover here down under in Oz.. if we do I am probably gonna pull the plug

im doing stage 2 with westtuned in a month, its going to have a catless downpipe the stage 2 tune and i upgraded tires and wheels and an air filter, 2 weeks ago i broke my rear differential and i dont know how but i was wondering someone who has done it have yall had any problems with it? any noise or stuff breaking?

The A35 rear diff is the same as the one used in lower powered models and is probably operating close to its torque handling capabilities.

This may be a stupid question but I am hoping i can get a non stupid answer, please. I have a 2019 A35 and had a stage 1 tune done. I cant really feel the difference and when I use the AMG engine display it still shows the same 400nm torque max and 225Kw max. Does you engine figures show more on that screen or is that all the screen displays. Thanks in advance for any help.

Many of the readouts on the screen are not sensor derived, they are calculated tabulated displays.

So you won’t get the actual torque or power numbers displayed on the screen.
Thanks. Would you still expect a percentage gain based on the calculations ?
I just wonder weather the displays max out at the factory limits.

Thanks again for your help

Hey! how is the acceptance of the W177 engine on the A35 to Stage 2 upgrade? I already have a Downpipe and an K&N Inbox Filter, and now I'm thinking about doing the whole Stage 2. I was hoping anyone who also done a Stage 2 in their A35's could answer me!
