Can ask for information how easy is it to get hold of the meths and how much does it cost. Also from what I have seen on the internet the mix has to be accurate so as not to blow the engine. How is it metered consistently.
The company I purchase from is around £75 for 25ltr premix, you can also get virgin grade and mix yourself which works out cheaper. 5 ltrs should last you 2-3 full tanks of fuel

There's a stage 3 A35 running at 475bhp. Awaiting details
I wonder how much that cost. Depending upon the details I wonder why they didn't use an A45s as a base.

I know a lot of Golf R’s tuned up towards 400 had clutch slip problems with the DSG boxes. I didn’t get chance to find out as my stage 1 R tuned to 368 bhp blew after 5 days resulting in new engine, turbo and cat. All done on warranty as they didn’t pick up on tune ??? total cost was over £12,000.
Most of the big tuners also did tcu flashes that helped a lot. I’d heard more issues with manual clutches slipping with extra power. There’s a few 600hp golfs around running stock transmissions, pretty sure revo advertises their software and hardware at over 500 bhp with nothing other than a tcu flash on the day.

The owner was asked that actually :). He has an A35 saloon, and has switched out the wings, bumper, bonnet and brakes to 45s spec, along with a cpc unlock, tune and hybrid turbo- serious 💰 spent.

Hey @J80LLK - good work with your tunes! Still going ok?

I have had my A35 mapped today with stock car, my figures are 388bhp / 440ft lbs and like you say it’s like a different car and it handles the power fine.

Have you done anything to the gearbox? As part of your map did they change anything within the gearbox?

The reason I ask is mine seems (and I’ve only done 20 miles since the map so going to do some more miles) to be very slow changing down the gears and in comfort a small delay when changing up. Doesn’t seem to happen in S+. It might be me but thought I would ask.

Where did you go for your work if you don’t mind me asking mate

I think it was just me on the drive home to be honest, since then I’ve done a few hundred miles I don’t seem to notice it at all.

The only thing I still want to get checked is a slight “over rev” is all I can describe it as. For example, if I accelerate quickly from say 20/30 in comfort to 70/80 normally i feel pinned to the back of the seat. The reason I notice the “over Rev” is because I come forward out of the seat on the gear change for a split second. Is that normal? My description for over rev / lag is bad I know, you will have will have to excuse the lack of car knowledge as I’m not the most technical with cars!

The work was done by the good team at MSL!

So... 10 days after the Stage1 Map - I can't seem to get the car to replicate the "lag" / "over rev" which was happening on my journey home?

I have been back in contact with MSL who have been very helpful and I have also since driven a stock car and the gear changes seem to be near the same..

I was concerned at the time but not so much now, the car seems to be driving fine.

Is there a way to obtain some HP without ECU tuning ?

If so, what method (s) and approx how many HP ?

Jumping on this old thread as ive just purchased Joes stage 2 A35.

Question I have is how much boost this is likely to be running so i can set the methanol correct (has 2 knobs, first you set to 25% of boost and second you set to max boost).

Struggling to find anything on how much boost the A35 would have as standard and what this is likely to be running.

Anyone have an idea (Joe not been on this for a while as ive tried to contact him)

Had mine done a couple of weeks ago by DMS Performance in Southampton. BMC air filter (better than K&N apparently) and stage 1 remap = 385.3hp which is plenty for me. Great guys done there with a lot of race tuning experience. Also includes gear box tune to your way of driving. He sits down with you and discusses what you're looking for from the tune.

Very happy with results and make a mighty difference to the drive and mid-range acceleration, is spot on!!

Great info.

How much more performance, I mean 0-100kph wise (my standard A35 Berline is 4.8 secs) can we obtain by SAFELY tuning the ECU ?

Not sure also if tuning would be recommend in my area (Monteral, QC Canada) since we have winters ranging from -15C to +10C.

Also, you guys seem to have a lot of options (turners) in Europe compared to us in Canada..Not even sure if I would be able to find a competent tuner in the Monteral QC Canada area..

Some tuners can do it online. So it should give you more options.

Hi @Bert

Having been to Canada many times for skiing holidays I totally understand your view of drivability and power.

The 0-100kph (0-60mph for us lol), not had chance to check yet but does feel much much quicker. The main thing you notice is the mid-range acceleration which is very noticeable with the 40-100mph seeming very quick. Being a bike rider as well (GSXR1000), I would start to compare it to that as I now have to keep an eye on the speedo lol.
