As title says. I'm going to swap out my battery tomorrow and need to know if I need to get the car coded or not.? Cheers john
My car is going in to MB for its service tomorrow together with a battery check and replacement depending upon the results of the check. Any replacement battery will need coding, otherwise i would buy the Varta replacement and take it to a different garage to change.

Yeh I've already bought a varta battery and can fit it myself. Only bit I carnt do is any coding as don't have the gear to do it. My friends however do so will ask them.

It depends on the car. Some modern vehicles require battery coding to ensure proper charging and prevent electrical issues, especially if you're changing battery type or capacity. If your car has an IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor), coding is likely needed. What make and model are you working with?"

This keeps it helpful and invites further discussion. Let me know if you want any tweaks

My battery is being replaced as we speak. MB battery with an Amazon price match. Not cheap but still better than nothing price wise.

Just a quick update. Getting a new battery is like night and day as far as the S/S is concerned. I know many don’t like it but I generally do as a fuel saving tool. It now comes on from the off. Regardless of how cold it is outside.

Just had my starter battery replaced after months of multiple MMe popups of "Starter Battery Critical". Even after charging with a CTEK MXS 5.0 wouldn't get past partially charged in MMe. Alternator checked OK.

You'll find it's now like a new car.
