Hello everyone, my Mercedes A180D (2021) for the second time in 2 days the screen in front of the driver does not turn on. I need to drive without seeing my speed, diesel level, etc.
I'm reading most of the comments on this post, and I'll tell my saga as it happens.
The first step I will take my MB following Monday MB dealership

New screen and associated control units was the cure for mine. I’ve heard of others having software updates which can work but don’t always. My advice would be allow the dealer to perform a software update (if that’s what they suggest first) and see how you get on. If the fault persists then you should demand they give you a new screen.

As my previous post on this says, they ordered a wiring harness for mine back in November. I haven’t heard from the dealers, but the issue has not arisen since then. So, I’m happy to wait until (and if) it happens again. Maybe the software update did the job.
For the short term though, just turn off the ignition, lock the car, move out of key range and then approach again and unlock. That always worked for me.
Be careful, as it’s illegal to drive without a speedometer.

Have had the same dead black screen problems on a GLA200 bought new in January 2022. After only two weeks the drivers side display (with speedo, fuel level etc.) stopped working. Dealer did software update but display failed again a couple of weeks later. Car was back at dealers for five weeks waiting for a new screen. After screen replaced no problems until yesterday when display failed again. Driving without a working speedometer is illegal and would void your insurance so the car is clearly not fit for purpose nor of satisfactory quality as required by sections 9 & 10 of the Consumer Rights Act 2015. Have served the dealer with a formal notice under sections 20 & 24 CRA 2015 rejecting the car and asking for full refund. Will post again when response from dealer received. For those of you out there not familiar with consumer law please know that it is the dealer's responsibility to put things right. Do not be fobbed off by a salesman trying to tell you that they will have to wait for Mercedes to decide what to do.

Interesting. I’ll be very interested in how this goes for you. Good luck.

Following up on my post 144.

The dealer accepted my notice of rejection. Offered a refund subject to a deduction for use to date (which Section 24 CRA 2015 permits) or a new replacement vehicle of similar specification. Took less then 72 hours for issue to be resolved. Absolute top customer service from this dealer.

Thanks for updating us

This happens quite frequently in my A180d.......It's so frustrating! Mercedes want £170 just to run a check on it......It's a complete rip off. Mine tends to happen more frequently in colder weather conditions (not sure if that has anything to do with it!):mad::mad:

Hello me again, I'm writing from Mercedes dealership is my third time for they "fix" de problem.
Im waiting on the couch with my 😡.

Hi guys. Had the same issue with my Mercedes A class 2019. Because I imported it from USA Mercedesa guarentee was no longer valid in Poland so I had to find someone to help me. After thousands of calls all over in Poland I found private company specialized with MBUX (right screen). The problem was not familiar to them as well but they did research, tests & have founded the solution. The problem was (its technical term so no idea if I translate it correctly) electrical short circuit in the bundle (?) which damaged the screen matrix. they needed to exchange bundle, soldered something in the matrix and its working. cost prox 2k euro. Hope I helped

I'm totally disappointed about the Mercedes and the guarantee, they fixed it and after three o more weeks, the problem still happen...I will sell my car.

Reviving this old thread.

My right side cluster with the speedo and rev counter went black. Turning the engine on and off didn’t bring it back up. But then leaving the engine off for a minute or so brought everything back up.

Coincidently, I’m sure, I had my service 2.0 yesterday.

My old A35 did this immediately after the car was serviced by Mercedes, in the two years of ownership it had never ever gone blank! must be some kind of software glitch, and it did end behaving itself after a few days without having to return to dealer.

My wife, who was next to me Googled it. Which said it went in to power saving mode. But I don't think this is correct as the left screen was fine. It was just as well we were only doing a local trip, one which was much longer would have been a challenge.

I have had both mbux and my speedometer updated as I have also had a black screen.
As you probably know, these are 2 different devices and can be updated separately.

Since then I haven't had any problems.

Hello,
I’ve had a few occasions where I have turned my a class 220 on and the display screens are black. They soon turn on and this has happened maybe twice. I have gotten into my car today and there are two lines going across my screen, they have never been there before and even if I change the display they still show. Can anyone help suggest what I can do or what’s happened to fix it? Thank you 😊

Have read about quite a few who have this challenge, some have experienced a black screen while driving..

I've had a black screen myself and had my speedometer updated at the same time as I had MBUX updated, it's 2 different devices/software.

Haven't had any problems since.
I would write to Mercedes about your challenges, but you will probably have to pay for the update..

Unfortunately I think your car will need the screen replacing as a few have had this problem, screen not coming on, or going off whilst driving. The lines, to me, definitely point to a faulty screen. Take it to a dealership.
