Greasy Foggy Windscreen (inside)?

Does anyone else's windscreen seem to always be greasy? I get quite bad ocd with smear marks but a few days after cleaning it seems to be covered in grease again. Had BMW's and Mini's previously and never had this issue, just can't seem to keep it clean. Not sure if it's anything to do with the aircon as it gets worse when the air is directed through the dash vents at the base of the windscreen.

I've also noticed that when it fogs up, the 'max' button on the climate control only blows hot. Again, coming from BMW I was used to being able to change the heat of the air coming out. Not going to be too much of an issue going into winter now but having hot air blasting out over the summer wasn't exactly ideal!

This issue is driving me crazy!!! My windows fog up like crazy and even when they aren't completely fogged up, I can see so many markings on them like circles right in the middle, by the mirror (more noticeable to backseat passengers) - Its incredibly frustrating and dangerous to be constantly fidgeting with the max and ac buttons. Steams up the minute I take Max off! Am I doing something wrong?

You’ve all just summed up everything I was going to write! Greasy windshield a day or so after cleaning. I’ve changed the brand of windscreen wash I use, I’ve diluted more, I’ve diluted less and still it’s the same. Perhaps it might be down to the wiper blades?

Resurrecting this thread as this is really noticeable with the current cold weather in my A180. I checked that there is air coming out of the dash vents and that's OK, but the screen just looks greasy/misty on the inside.

Blasting it on max clears it for a few minutes but then it's back. (Climate permanently switched on).

Anyone manage to find a resolution? Car has 2500 miles on it.

Thanks in advance.

I do not have such a problem, It just happened once when the car is not running, all windows closed and I was inside, bc of my breathing, totally normal, opened up my roof top, gone. But, as a non pro detailing lover, I clayed my windows in and out, cleaned all the possible stuck-on chemicals on my mirrors... May be I have gotten rid of most of the problem you have mentioned here. Also, try cleaning up the air vent at a service. Plus, If the car is a few months new, all the excess production materials could be exhaling from the vents, and-or human skin particules stuck in when interior circulation was on, and then now they're releasing... Just my guessings...

Not been on for a while, so not kept up with this! Had the car just over 2 years now and still having the same issue so don't think it's anything to do with left over chemicals, must just be something that Mercedes put in their air conditioning 🤷‍♂️ Got to say it's particularly frustrating at this time of year when the sun is still quite low on the morning commute!

Hi,
you could try a magic eraser soaked in a light solution of apc. Make sure you cover the dash with a old towel and wring magic eraser out. Scrub the inside windscreen. Follow with a clean microfibre, normally just a damp one to remove any excess water. Leave for a couple of minutes for the screen to dry and follow with a glass cleaning microfibre and glass cleaner. I have removed vape residue from with this process. The only other thing to try after that is a cream based window cleaner but that can get messy and I would avoid it.

Not sure if this is a problem unique to the A250e hybrid or a general problem ?

I've had my A250e saloon around one year from new, and it's always had this annoying problem. The inside of the windscreen is always steaming up, or at least seems to be coated with a layer of fine mist.. wiping it just temporarily cleans it away, it soon returns and shows all the wipe/streak marks. It always happens even if the AC is on and the heat is directed to the windscreen... I'm forever wiping it with a chamois pad to try and get it clean. If I clean it with glass cleaner it seems to just smear around as if it's coated with some kind of grease or similar. I tried to clean i with meths, but it just left smear marks everywhere.

Anyone have the same problem ? if so what's the best way to fix it ?

Thanks

See post #15.

You need a high quality glass cleaner to get every bit of residue off.

And from there keep the inside of the car very very dry.

If you find it difficult or impossible to keep the inside from fogging up - has your car been back for the leaky condensate drain recall?

Hi OK thanks I'll try and give it a good clean with some high quality stuff. I didn't receive any info on leaking condensate drain... it's my company car provided through a lease, so not sure how that would get to me, it is however booked in for it's first service at the MB dealers tomorrow, so I guess that they will address any recall's or similar.

reading the above posts, seems like a common problem.
