Lacklustre burmester

Hey everyone,
I’ve recently made the switch from an A200 premium which had Mercedes Advanced Sound System. I was always very impressed by the system and assumed the Burmester in my A35 would blow me away even more.

However, I’ve found the Burmester to be very average. Not saying it’s bad but I certainly don’t enjoy it as much as the Mercedes advanced in my old car. The bass just isn’t there, although the clarity might be marginally better.

Has anyone else had a similar feeling? My C220 premium plus has Burmester which leaves me in awe everytime. I mainly listen to rap/hiphop for context.

Not been a fan of the A35 sound system. Came out of an S4 with Audi's standard 'Premium' audio i.e. non-branded, and I believe it was better than the A35s. Not a great piece of kit unfortunately, and if you put it high enough everything rattles anyway... :)

Has anyone tried this? I would but not got my car yet.

Completely agree that the BMW and Audi systems are better. My dad’s W205 c class has Burmester and it’s mind blowingly crisp, loud and bassy. Made me excited for my A35 system but left disappointed.

That being said, not sure if I’m going crazy but it sounds better after the recent MBUX update and when in ‘Surround Sound’ mode. Especially if you turn it up loud it gets even better

I took delivery of my A35 on August 18 in Canada, does that mean I have the latest MBUX update ?

I hope so, but the Burmester sound system still has no bass. It is so bad I am thinking something is wrong with the sound system and I am tempted to go to the dealer to enquire about it.

go to settings, system info and the software version should end in 080 or 081.

you should also go to sound settings and turn the bass up to maximum along with treble. And go to sound profile and select “surround”. This should give you reasonable bass especially at louder volumes

I purchased a 2021 AMG A35 sedan a few months ago. LOVE this car!! However, sound system is disappointing! Is there any way to improve the sound system without changing out the entire radio.
I have the Burmester package and I do not find that it gets loud enough and does not have enough bass!
anyone else having this problem??

I just love my A35 and would have still bought it even if I knew the Burmester sound sytem was so horrible when it come to bass.

I have tried everything in settings, still has no bass.

Guess you would have to bring your A35 to a car audio center to see what they can do for you.

I think the only extra speakers you get with a burmiester is the tweeters in the doors. I just had my A35 in for service and got an A220 with its base sound as a loaner. My 35 also has the base setup. The A220 sounded like pure ****, and it did not have the amp and woofer in the trunk like mine does. I’ve heard the upgraded sound from another 21 A35 and it sounded like mine except slightly better highs and the nice silver speaker covers. Just my 2 cents, I could be my rocker though haha.

Real shame as the Burmeister in my old C class... ( longest model name = Mercedes C250d 4matic AMG Line, midnight edition , premium plus, estate).... Was superb. For trance and lounge/chill music it was simply sublime.
