2021 AMG C35 29000 miles. Full Mercedes service history. Owned the car for 2 weeks.
Error codes 030085, 030385 and 1CEF85. Mercedes diagnostic came back with misfire and compression down on cylinders 2 and 3. New head required. I have an extended 2 year warranty from the dealer I purchased her from so it should be sorted.
Booked into Mercedes Shrewsbury for repair MB is covering 75% of the cost and the dealer I purchased her from the remainder. I believe there was a bit of haggling involved with MB.

I hope the repair/replacement puts this problem to bed as I really enjoy driving this car, also puts a smile on my face every time I start her up.

Good news. Hopefully all will now be fixed smoothly but let us know if there are any hiccups.

I’ve been monitoring these threads and I have a couple of questions please. My car is the 2018 250 which is approaching 29k miles and as far as I’ve read is the same engine but seems less reported problems. Could be due to more 35s being sold??

This is for people who’ve had issues before you actually got the full failure etc, were there any warning signs leading up to it? Recently I seem to get a slight blip in engine smoothness as in a very small miss / hesitation

I‘m seriously considering moving to the new CLA but that could be up to a year away depending on the model I choose and costs.

I’ve been on MB site and can get an extended warranty for just under £700 and wonder if it’s worth it, ie if I took it out then the head went a few weeks later would they honour a claim?

Don’t fancy a 4 / 8k bill

TIA as always

On this part of your question. It depends on the T&Cs. As we know insurance requires full disclosure. So while I would say yes to the insurance I would suggest you have a honest discussion with the insurance provider first.

In case you’ve missed this thread - there’s a few A250 owners with M260 reports in it

I think the occasional blip/cough during idle is ‘normal’, but it doesn’t help with any paranoia!

If you get access to Xentry there are a few checks you can do that may give you an indication.

1. There's a smooth running counter in the engine tab which shows the amount of misfires. Any number there other than 0 is an indication that something might be wrong.

2. There's another test, that estimates the compression in each cylinder. Quite clever, they use the crankshaft sensors to read the speed when cranking and estimate compression from there. No disconnecting anything. So you don't need to pull spark plugs etc. When I tested mine it clearly showed issues on cylinder 2, which was later confirmed by the garage using proper compression tools.

All Done. Was in the workshop for a week, New head, timing guides and tensioner fitted and going by the list of parts used, I think every bolt, washer and clips etc where swapped out for new.
Total cost for parts and labour came to £6875.28, MB covered 75%

The text of #501 says that the dealer picked up the remaining 25%.

The quoted part however does say extended warranty, so could be open to interpretation, or alternatively the dealer did pick up the tab.
496

Just that in #508 you very emphatically declared that “Insurance” paid the remaining 25%, and I was wondering how you 100% knew that to declare so positively :p 😂

Was it the customers extended warranty, or the dealers own used car policy, or the dealers contribution from its profit margin 🤷‍♂️

Any possibility that #501 will have superseded #496 with updated, later info? :p
Perhaps you should call the dealership to get the precise details behind their warranties 😂

Well I could, but personally I wouldn’t have been so emphatic about declaring something that wasn’t my case, and presenting as fact ;)

As I said in #511 - it could be open to interpretation.

A good result for the customer though, regardless.

Hi all, currently in for a cylinder head replacement.

Car has been in since the start of December due to a back ordered part. Is this wait considered normal?
It was during Covid when there was a shortage of parts, but not usual these days.

Call the AMG customer service number and ask for their assistance to speed things up.
