Hi all, currently in for a cylinder head replacement.

Car has been in since the start of December due to a back ordered part. Is this wait considered normal?
My Baby was only in for week at MB Shrewsbury. She would of been out sooner but the tech working on the replacement head had a couple of days off work mid week.

This is not the experience of people who have posted recently. Have you chased them before now. What have they said?

Snap! I was thinking of your experience when replying too 😎

So what does this mean in terms of a head replacement, will this only be a temp fix? I'm hoping that regardless it'll then be covered with the part warranty I'll get from this repair
It’s not a temp fix.

Daimler AG provide a repair kit which includes a new head, because a dealer workshop doesn’t have the tooling to rework an existing head, valves and valve guides to the tolerances required.

Okay I understand, so after this repair, i shouldn't have this issue re-occur?
Well, my fortune telling skills are a little low tonight, but no, not heard of any repeat cases once the repair has been carried out.

Of course there’s always the chance that you get a duff kit or repair, as with any component or installation! 🤷‍♂️

I'm joining the club with a Misfire in Cylinder 1!

2019 plate with 43000

No extended warranty as I didn't buy it from Merc and the place I did buy it from (who serviced it) wasn't authorised Merc garage.

Looking to get it towed into Merc Bham in the next few days and have the 'thats not a wear and tear item' conversation.

This thread has been useful as a 9ne-stop-shop of info and reports, but it would be useful if people posted the Date, Age, Mileage, Reg (partial) and Cost and Outcome, maybe even dealership, for others to refer to.

I have the Canada Warranty extension details
I have the change in part numbers on the valve guides/seats/head etc
I have a rough idea on numbers just from this thread, regardless of what proportion of buyers it represents.
It would be helpful to know who had it done under warranty and by which dealers. That way I know I wouldn't need to explain the basis of my understanding with everyone I speak with.

Alternatively I'm thinking of going direct to an Indi, MSL and Mercland near me and I have previously trusted both with works. They'd probably be cheaper too. Anyone see a drawback of that option (except the loss of the ability for an arguement for Merc to cover the costs)

I'm looking at getting into an A35. Not so sure now! Am I safe if I buy a 2022 or newer car? I'm looking at buying from my local MB dealer. I asked them if I would get a 2 year warranty as it's an AMG car but they've said only the 1 year. Which contradicts a lot of what I've been told elsewhere. I'd be stupid to buy this car without a decent warranty but I'm hoping that if I stretch to a model later than 2021 that they have this issue resolved. Disgraceful that they've left so many customers high and dry with this issue.
