Also do you guys know what's the latest firmware on these cars. I'd rather tell them what to do because the Grimsby dealership seems to be a circus.

I appear to have the same issue i.e. informed my car came with Apple Carplay only to find it does not and that I do not have the option to add via Mercedes Me.

The dealership is also unaware of any update to the MBUX being available!

 

It seems like the early 2018 models do not have the option to install CarPlay unless a mobile integration add-on (not sure if this is how it's called) was preinstalled. I escalated the matter and they gave me a partial refund to keep the car.

 

I took my car for service and I asked them to update the mbux system and map. The next day I went to pick up my car and surprise surprise I got CarPlay available for purchase for £299

 

My dealership are looking for evidence that the MBUX can be updated. Is there any official guidance from Mercedes?

I bought a 2018 (new model) A Class last month. Its an Executive Auto 180d. My Apple CarPlay is deactivated, but I was sure it was part of the spec for this model. I dont want to spend the £299 online - does anyone have experience of a dealer retrospectively adding it?

Doubt it. 2018 it was a £500 option And you’ll need at least FU2 upgrade to get it for £299 😏😏

 

Would there be any Australian A200 owners here on the forum who can confirm an upgrade path for non-CarPlay models. I believe I have an August 2018 build.

 

You need to check your VIN from mbdecoder, and make sure you have the 16U & 17U for Apple Carplay Integration.

Hello all

1. I just bought an A200 AMG Line Premium, 69 plate.

2. According to Mercedes Brochure and website, the AMG Line Premium has 'Smartphone Integration' and Apple Car Play (see attached photos).

3. I plugged my iPhone into the USB-C phone port, no Apple Car Play appears.

4. I have attempted the obvious troubleshoot options such as reset Mercedes, reset iPhone, ensure there are no Mercedes or iPhone updates. Tried it plugged in with/without bluetooth enabled.

My question: Do I need to pay for the Smartphone Integration package for £299?! I completely assumed it was pre-installed given point No. 2. Or should my car have Apple Car Play and there is a fault with the system/MBUX.

Thanks in advance for any help. Apologies if this has been answered in previous threads, I have searched but to no avail for this specific question.

Are you in the correct port, under the sliding cover? Is it a data / charging cable? Have u tried another phone and or cable? Is CarPlay enabled on the phone?

 

Hi Ikon66. Yes, in the correct port at the front where there is a symbol for mobile phone. I used the official Apple USB-C to lightning cable. Apple Car Play enabled on iPhone.

 

I have the same car on 69 plate. It doesn’t have CarPlay unless I pay the £299 which I won’t be doing. I think it became standard late on the 69 plate from early 2020

 

Davell. Thanks for letting me know. I naively assumed the new design (2018+) meant that Apple Car Play was standard in all the models, as it says on the brochure.

I honestly thought that by purchasing a 2019 AMG Line Premium meant it would be included! 😓

 

Looks like £299 if u really need it. I specced it on my 2018 250 and apart from trying it when I got the car I’ve never used it. Can do all I need using what’s standard. Although it gives some peace of mind if I need a backup in case of satnav issues 🤓

 

Hi Zelda. I had exactly the same as you. I have a A200 AMG Line Premium, 20 plate 19 build. My car was specced as Mirror Link, which has been discontinued. I even tried a call to customer services. They didn't want to know. So I'm managing fine without it at the moment. Just have decide if I want to pay £300 or not.

I have a Mercedes A180 AMG Line Premium petrol model, please can you explain why Apple CarPlay shows on the MBUX screen in my car's Settings tab but is described as "Deactivated - last update: via diagnostics 26.10.2019, 6.35am". I want to reactivate it what can I do? My car was registered end November 2019.

I am disappointed as I thought my car came with CarPlay pre installed.

Nothing is free with a Mercedes.

You have to purchase it for £299.

 

Out of interest, if you activate it then sell the car on, does the new owner have to purchase it again or does it then stay with the car for life?

 

One off purchase will stay with the car.
