The update is for the communication module, not an MBUX update as such.

It is how the car communicates with the outside world, such as live traffic, Mercedes me services, etc.

Mine was just updated here on 16/8 but the car is in the workshop after an accident so haven't looked closely at that update, but all other updates regarding the communication module I haven't noticed any changes to.

I don't think so.. It's my App that says an update has arrived, I don't know if it has been installed.
(It says it can take up to 15 minutes to update and it will do it in the background while the car is on)

Received an update to the communications module today, which was last updated in November 2022, was released today. No new mbux changes, likely MB prepping for FUP4 for the UK region - as each communications module update usually refers to a new FUP? I think FUP4 is the update which allows for WLAN instead of the inbuilt data esim.

I'll double check with xentry later on to see what version HERMES is running on after the update as I was on the FUP3 s/w pairing on Hermes and the HU6 with the api_level ntg 081 FUP34.

Is different hardware. What you call MBUX2 runs on NTG7. MBUX1 runs on NTG6.

Yes I managed to tether MBUX to my mobile phone after that update. Still the same customer visible version number though, 081.

Ahh. Mine has always showed as FUP3_4 on xentry, assume I was always on FUP3 - might have been FUP4; might need to code the tether in Monaco as I disabled it to force the Mercedes Me to work in a previous debug with removing the crashed HERMES state. I did remember using tethering breaks some things like Mercedes voice assistant on FUP3, might have been fixed with FUP4.

Well the new communications update, has appeared to have kept HERMES to the same FUP2 control variant. Not sure at all what Daimler are sending off but it appears to have also broken the internet connectivity to the mbux headunit as well, even with a reset and provisioning reset with xentry on my car. Though app features seem to work so very odd.

Looking online on other forums, MBClub members seem to have some new features - the integration of TP-Link and myQ products to the voice assistant and the new Place Details by Google as seen by some others in the previous weeks.

The thing that grinds my gears is that the Chinese variant of our car with Baidu Carlife can perform full-screen carplay on the first generation MBux - so assume the temperature controls reason as bs. Still quite angry and was looking to activate Baidu instead but have not found a way..
