New owner here (A200 AMG-Line Premium) and it's still showing as costing £299 for me.
I've put a complaint into the dealer about this. I just replaced two cars (an Audi and a VW) with the A-Class and a GLC 220d 4Matic AMG-Line Premium Plus).
Both my previous cars had Apple Car Play, and I'm not a fan of this subscription-based model.

I don't see an option to upgrade my A200 (mid-2018) to CarPlay or Android Auto in the Mercedes Me app or elsewhere in Australia. How or where can I get the upgrade going ...can it be done without visiting the Mercedes dealer?

 

I recall that some 2018 build cars do not have the necessary hardware for Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.

 

I just bought the smartphone integration package for apple carplay. I can see on my mercedes me app that the service is activated but nothing happens when I plugged in my iphone. I'm wondering if mbux is downloading the software in the background before I can use carplay or something.

Does anyone know how long would it take for carplay to work after activation from the mercedes me store?

I have same problem here, just spent 299£ for the Smartphone Integration package, I saw it’s in the apps on MBUX, and license activated. But when I plug the phone, nothing happened. I try charging cable, phone,… restart the car, but no luck

 

Think I’ve read it can be 24 hours plus. Check all of your settings on the phone. The cable is good and you’re in the correct socket 🤓

 

Oh and Mercedes’ Me is synced with the car 🤓

 

thanks ikon! for some odd reason, carplay worked after i force closed the mercedes store and reopened it or it could have been a coincidence.

 

Has anyone else experienced this issue when attempting to purchase the smartphone integration pack?

I have a late 2018 A180d and decided it’s time to get CarPlay installed but despite resetting phone and app the below error keeps popping up when trying to purchase or add to cart.

 

Firstly is your car the newer w177 as you’ve posted in 176?

if your car is on the original software I don’t think you can add it

has it redirected you to the store app?

apologies yeah it’s the newer model from 2018. And this screenshot is from the store app after Mercedes’ me redirects. I think I’ll give them a call tomorrow to figure it out.

Morning Guys, Picked up my A200 Premium Plus Line on Saturday. On the spec it said it had smartphone integration, which means I should have Apple Car Play etc. When I got shown the car and its controls on Saturday, myself and the salesman both noticed that it has been deactivated. Can anyone shed some light on why this would be? I have proof from the listing on the Mercedes website that it said Smartphone integration. Will it be a case of plugging in my phone and seeing what happens. I had Apple CarPlay as standard in my GTD, and even though its a useful tool I would rather not pay the £299 to get it set up.

I had the same as that on my 20 plate A200 Premium.
If you look back at previous posts you will see that the first activation is 300 notes, then stays for life. So it sounds like yours is like mine and never been activated. I haven't bothered as yet and just rely on Spotify for music and phone works fine via Bluetooth.

 

Totaly new on Mercedes, been looking for an a class for a few weeks now. Came a cross one today and took it out for a drive.
But seems it doesnt have ACP. Been reading that with Mbux all you need to do is to activate it for a fee on the mercedes me/shop. So i went to the mercedes shop,put the vin number under the ''smart phone intergation '' but getting that the car is not compatible.

I think i saw something about early 2018 cant get apc.. that kinda worries me =/

You need a couple of prerequisites

1. the necessary hardware to be fitted to the car (not all 2018 cars had the necessary hardware

2. MBUX software level to be updated to FU1 or later

Sit in the car with ignition on and press the Me button overhead, and speak to them.

I don't think you can see anything as you are not the owner of the car and your Mercedes Me is not associated with the car.
But write to ME or call them.. It should work fine as it has MBUX.. I bought Apple CarPlay at the Store and a few hours later it was active.

Even with the old software FU1 it should work fine, only updated to the latest FU after I got CarPlay.

 

I can see all his current packes he pays for, but the ACP isnt there. It list all available stuff you can buy. When I checked some other vins on later models I can see that they have the option to buy it.
Hopefully will be different when I can actually use the Mercedes me ID

It's very frustrating. Are you able to drive outside your country to try and connect, as I note you are not far from other countries.

£299 for Smartphone Integration will get you Apple CarPlay.

 

How was this update done by your dealer

 

You can buy it from MB Store, then turn off MBUX and on again, it will show in the Apps.
Technically, I think the MBUX has all the apps there, but not activated. When you buy the app on MB Store, it's just the license to activate in your car.

 

I have been thinking of purchasing the apple car play add on as its currently on sale for 254p. I have the 7 inch displaying the speedometer and 10 inch media display in my car... Assuming its gonna be a small display carplay, is it worth it?

Anyway to get carplay some other way for cheaper?

On the non FL 10” screen on my A45s it only uses part of the screen. Which I find okay and even if it only uses a part of your 7” screen I think it would be fine and you can upgrade to full screen with the adapter some people use.

Okay nice thank yoy, is the only way to get carplay by paying through the mercedesMe app or can I get it done cheaper. I know this mercededs new interface and all so a bit dubious if anyone can code through it?

 

You have to pay for CarPlay and the many MB models which have it will have had it paid for in their list price.

Ive contacted mercedes me technical who are looking into it but was just wondering if this has happened to anyone else, and if you fixed it?

It takes time with everything MB. You might try driving some distance. Which will allow the car to sync.
